For all you out there that like modding we have an updated tool and a new tool to share

UPDATED IMAGE EDITOR
First of all we have an updated and English translated version of the T50Imageseracheditor program originally written by Ark_Royal from Teclast BBS

This is essentially the same tool but has a couple of changes and additions

now you can double click on a name and open the file browse box to get an image

The other big change is that the program now allows you to replace an image with one of a different size than the original.

This works and i have tried it myself only once, for instance if you want to completely remove an image from the UI then replace it with a 1x1px green image and its gone!!!
Or maybe you want to make a button bigger, it can be done

The draw back is that we can not change the x and y position of an image so if you make one bigger it will expand from its fixed point outwards

Have a play around and see what can be done, its still all a bit experimental but all good stuff

STRING EDITOR

This is cool and came about from the current fad of wanting to remove the text from main menus

This is a a rework of the above editor but it allows you to edit the words on the player and change all the labels

You can correct any spelling mistakes or correct any wrong translations etc

It uses the STRING.BID file that is located in the "RESOURCE\SID" folder in the firmware files

I have asked the author and apparently its OK to create string/words longs or shorter than the original

Might be nice to start a project of one file and get all the errors corrected so it can be distributed with the s:flo. just pass it around until all corrections are made - just a clean up really

Anyway i have no time to do any form of tutorial so play away and send in your findings

I am currently talking to the 2 coders responsible for these programs with regards to more tools and especially one for modding and changing the start screens etc - more to follow

RK EXPLORER TOOL
This is a new tool and is simply an explorer that will list the contents of an RKW fle in a tree like structure and allow you to save the selected file/folder out individually, this is useful for getting files out of the RKW without having to use the original M30 BIN dump program, quite usefull this one
Now allows you to both extract certain files and to import new ones (replace), meaning we can keep an RKW file structure if needed

Right, now some thanks
Ark_Royal - Many thanks for the original T50 image editor and your help with this tool
angelohbwang - for the English version of the editor and the string editor and also for your extremely fast turn around on the changes that needed making

A big thanks from me and all our members for all the work you have done with these programs

Can someone please help me with the string editor.

Basically I open up the app, open the stringid.bin file click 'video' for example and delete the word. Then I click 'replace' and it comes up 'remove all selected strings?' I click okay then click the 'save bin' button. After that I overwrite the edited stringid.bin file with the one on the player. Now either it doesn't work with the Nationite R1 or I'm doing something wrong?

A few pics to show whats what.

Hi
all those files in the file open box, are they all on the players itself?? or are they copies you have made, as far as i know there is usually only 1 string file per firmware (i may be wrong)

it will work for the R1 as the basic mechanism for rockchips is the same, the only thing is that if all those sring files are on the player then its using one of the other ones

are you doing a mod then for this player, can wait to see it

Quick reply cheers,

Yeah there all on the player and no there not copies, so I'll have to have more of a play untill I find the right one.

Yer...modding, the icons are doing my head in but I'll have to keep at it.

But so far I've changed the usb screen, startup and shutdown screen although at 24? frames for each I want to do something thats animated like that Ramos RM970 that someone has posted on this forum that looks sweet, the wallpaper. Oh and the little battery meter in the top right corner lol.

But its all pretty crap at the moment needs improving, so no pics yet. :P

the BIG5 may have some english words i it

i have downloaded your firmware and this really must be the older way of doing things as now all the languages appear in one file

but i thin th big5 may be the one to change here

As far as the string editor goes, I would really like to see some type of import/export to text file function. I just finished updating the Swedish translation for the s:flo and I can say that after working with the string editor program and comparing two files, it is pretty tedious work. I have other programs that can compare text files in seconds and make the job of copying changes from one to the other a breeze. This would also make the merging of several files with different language updates really easy. Right now we have several updated files in different languages from people and to produce a single updated file by hand would be too much manual work I think.

The export function could produce a file similar to
<Language 1>
1:text
2:text
3:text
...
<Language 2>
1:text
2:text
3:text
...

and the import function would take this type of file and replace the existing languages/elements with the ones in the file. That way we could update the info in a text editor and not have to press Replace after each change. Whatcha think maderin1, would the developers go for such an idea?

hi

well the developer are just 1 man (boy) a student in china and their time is limited, what you are suggesting is good and i will put it forward but it will be a lot of work to implement all that

the problem with all these different files is a pain and i wish we had gotten organised and just passed the one file around, i was going to do it but just forgot, that way at least we could have created just the 1 file, passed it onto the next person to make their language changes etc.

anyway thanks for the feedback, i will pass it on

what i have asked for at the minute is a simple search facility to easily find the word you want to replace, this is simple nd hopefuly wil be implemented soon
