The new Onda VX545HD uses the latest ChinaChip chipset, the CC1600. The VX545HD is a fantastic video player, the powerful chipset allows for near perfect video playback for videos that are upto a high resolution of 1280x720, so it can be considered as support 720p HD video quality.
What compliments the players media chip is the 800 x 480 resolution screen, almost twice the resolution that we are normally accustomed to on similar sized players. This allows for videos to look even more sharp and clearer than previously seen before.
There is no doubt that as a video player, the VX545HD is quite capable of taking on any major brand media player and in most cases, leaving them in the dust. To most people, even those who are accustomed to MP4 players generally out edging most mainstream players for video playback, will be astonished by the sheer quality of the video playback. However apart from the video playback, the rest of the player is quite lacking.
The player should really only be bought for the express purpose of video playback, the audio quality and playback is also quite superb, but with a less than average music player interface, playing music on the VX545HD and on most players using the CC1600 is very cumbersome and not enjoyable. Again the issue is with how the user interface for the music player is laid out and not with the audio quality itself. The player does have an independent DAC produced by Cirrus Logic, so audio quality is upto par, if not better, than most media players.
The one other use the player could have is as a digital photo frame, the powerful chipset coupled with the high resolution screen allows for larger images files to be displayed fast with a chrisp and vivid image quality.
The player has a wireless remote, a large battery capacity and will come in 32GB of internal memory (as well as 8GB and 16GB).
If you are looking for a player where you really don't need to convert videos and want it for the express purpose of videos AND can live with a poorly made user interface, then this is the product for you. Again the UI, overall is poor, but the video interface is more than adequate for enjoyable video playback. |
