7-Inch Capacitive, ZMS-05 Processor Tablet

November 23, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with 1 Comment.

This particular tablet uses a processing chip that we've not yet come across - the ZMS-05 - an apparently 'low end processor' that can support 1080p. We wonder what their 'high end' stuff is like. The ZMS-05 is unlike the ZMS-08 that we've blogged before however. The 7-inch tablet is clocked at 600MH, and has 1GB's of memory, and 8GB of Flash storage. It has a capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 and has a nifty trackball on it's side. As for it's OS, it uses Android 2.1, with no plans for an upgrade as of yet. current prices yet to be determined. As for how the thing runs, according to the source, it runs well on it's unbeknown-to-us ZMS-05, and seems to be powerful and runs it's operating system well. More pics after the break. via imp3

Ziio 7 & 10 Squeeze Into The Already Crowded Tablet Room.

The tablet market is a market that most companies are trying to get their foot in and Creative is no exception. Much like the Apple trend and other popularized large screen players, Creative have come out with two large sized models - 7-inch and 10-inch - I suppose if longer legged models work on the catwalk, bigger screened models work in the tech industry. The Ziio 7 which is at a high-colour 800 x 480 and Ziio 10 at a low-colour 1024 x 600 (names states size) uses X-Fi audio processing merged with apt-X's new audio codec allowing for high quality audio over Bluetooth with reduced lag - perfect for wireless headphones and speakers. Another interesting aspect is that both models use resistant touchscreens instead of capacitive, bringing back the ol' stylus - possibly for cost reasons?

ZiiLABS ZMS-08 Blu-ray Quality Processor For 2010

November 11, 2009 by Tom in Hardware News with 1 Comment.

It's not a pretty or exciting picture but it certainly could display a few. The ZMS-08 media processor chip is Creative's ZiiLABS' step toward getting Blu-ray quality on handheld devices. It provides full HD 1080p H.264 decoding and simultaneous H.264 encode and decode at 720p, along with 1080p 24fps encode. It also has the multi-media processing capabilities of the ZiiLABS StemCell systems with a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor. The chip supports OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics as well as Xtreme Fidelity X-Fi audio effects. The first bulk ship-outs are expected early 2010. [Via Slashgear] Discuss on the MP4Nation forum.
