Microsoft: Next Version Of Windows To Support ARM

Microsoft Corp. announced yesterday that their next version of Windows will support System on a Chip (SoC) architectures with support for ARM-based systems from NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, whose ARM-based SoCs are popular in the handheld device market today. This shouldn't come as any surprise - NVIDIA president Jen-Hsun Huang puts it well: "Windows on ARM represents a seismic shift for the computing industry. ARM is already the largest and fastest-growing CPU architecture in the world, and today’s major news of Windows will only accelerate its adoption." Though it is still a while away from launch (my last count, months), the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is doing a remarkable job of staying afloat despite the turbulent waves of competition. It is not really that surprising - Microsoft know what they're doing (from a hype-building standpoint) and have recently illuminated that they are determined to make mobile gaming for the Windows Phone 7 a success. One of the problems that has prevalently plagued the mobile gaming landscape is the "race to zero", otherwise known as the "too-many-bad-titles-the-good-ones-don't-stand-out" syndrome. Archos Android Internet Tablet Hits Mid September

French company Archos release their new internet tablet, the first non-phone device to use Android, on September 15th. The Windows 7-powered Archos 9 is due out before and boasts 160GB storage, 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor and 1064x600 resolution, boosting hopes for top specs for the Android model. [Via t3]

m-touch, v80 winCE mp4 players – load new games and apps – breakthrough

Well this just had to be shouted out as on the mp4nation forum there have been efforts to get external applications to load on these two player .. well, it been done, with hard work and a great community effort there is finally a solution to make these players accept externall games and application For those who do not know, the Ramos v80 and the newman M-Touch are protable media players in which their operating system is based on an embeded version of the Microsoft Windows CE platform. Now this was heavilty locked down, with no active sync connestion ahd thus no way to load external applications.
