Windows 7 & Ubuntu Dual Boot Tablet?

December 28, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

Above pictured is supposedly a dual boot tablet that boots both Windows 7, something that is fairly commonplace to tablets, as well as Ubuntu Netbook Edition - now that's a first for us. We're curious as to how Ubuntu performs, though it is not a stretch to imagine as this mystery tablet houses netbook internals, starting with an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.66GHz, possibly the N450 though we're not certain. 2GB of RAM and a 32GB SSD round out the skeleton of the specs. The display measures in at 10.1-inches and with a capacitive touchpanel that allows for multitouch input. It looks a force, but the x86 architecture means a thick tablet with cooling vents and possibly, just possibly, dedicated cooling solution (such as a small fan). Further, x86 tablets are typically less forgiving

Lenovo LePad Will Run Windows 7

December 24, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

It's been rumoured for a while that the LePad from Lenovo would launch in December - while that may now seem like a quick approaching deadline, we've been treated to a post on the LePad's official microblog all but confirming that the Lenovo tablet will run Windows 7. The Windows 7 reveal certainly is somewhat surprising, as Android most certainly wears the tablet OS crown at the moment. Also confirmed is that the LePad will have a removable keyboard which turns it into an effective netbook, a la the IdeaPad U1. Snazzy stuff and we can't wait to see this in action. via clonedinchina

MSI WindPad Tablet To Be Introduced At CES 2011

December 14, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with 1 Comment.

MSI have a already introduced two different tablets that have been branded WindPad. MSI have now come out with other WindPads that will be introduced at the 2011 International CES. The apparent release date for the new WindPad tabs will be early next year. We know not much on the new MSI lineup. What we do know is that one of them will have a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen, and run Windows 7 Home Premium as it's OS. This particular tablet will be among the first slates to use the Intel Atom Oak Trail platform which will vastly improve battery life over older Atom processing chips. The 10.1-inch tablet is said to measure less than an inch in depth and has a resolution of 1024 x 800 pixels. It also has a mini HDMI and USB port. There are also a few apparent specs for another MSI WindPad slat

Catching Up: Toshiba With The One-Two…Three?

December 10, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

We missed this a few days ago. Toshiba is supposedly readying a triple-whammy tablet showcase for CES2011, with Android, Windows 7 and Chrome OS rounding out the OSes. The tablet development is apparently being handled by the comapany's smartphone department, which makes sense in a roundabout sort of way. As you'd expect, there's been no concrete confirmation of any of the hardware specs, though there are rumours that one of the slates has an 11.6-inch screen while the other 2 will be bog-standard 10.1-inchers. This news broke shortly after the Folio 100 tablets by Toshiba were pulled from shelves in a move described as temporary. via slashgear

Winpad P100 Windows 7 Tablet Looks Generic

December 10, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 2 Comments.

The generic shell of this Windows 7 tablet, the P100 by Winpad, is enough to scare anyone away. We should all be wary of generic shells. That being said, though, Windows 7 tablets are largely unavailable in the tablet market, with only few of the many "released" actually being findable. You could cite demand and, realistically, a Windows 7 tablet probably isn't all that one imagines it could be. Onto specs: this Winpad P100 is a 10.1-inch tablet (1024x600) powered by the Intel Atom N450 processor clocked at 1.66Ghz, to go along with 1GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB SSD. It weighs in at roughly 900g and has WiFi connectivity. Not out there, but quite solid. No word yet on whether it is a capacitive or resistive display. via midbbs

The Samsung Gloria And Her Slide-Out Keyboard

December 9, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with No Comments.

The Samsung Gloria - a testament to the fact that Samsung isn't only nurturing it's prized baby: the Samsung Galaxy tab - is a yet-to-be-confirmed tablet that seems to have not many released specs or pricing thus far. What we can say is that it will run Windows 7, has a 10-inch screen and that it has a slide-out keyboard (possibly QWERTY). Joy! The slide-out Keyboard would indicate that this tablet could be marketing more towards business-minded folk that would find more practicality in a solid keyboard rather than a virtual one. It is still uncertain as to whether darling Gloria will hit the market yet, and the image we have above is but a rendered mock-up, but here's for hoping! via ubergizmo

CTL With 2goPad SL10 Pro Windows Tablet

December 3, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

The 2goPad SL10 Pro upgrades CTL's previous tablet, the 2goPad SL10, introducing a 64GB SSD instead of a 250GB HDD, as well as Windows 7 Professional rather than Home Premium. Other new goodies include a capacitive touchscreen stylus as well as a portable Bluetooth keyboard and a 3G mode. Beside that, the specs look to stay the same and fairly impressive: Intel Atom N450 CPU @ 1.66GHz, a capacitive 10-inch touschreen display, 2GB RAM. However, these nifty new features don't come for free as the 2goPad SL10's original price of USD$549 sees a rise to USD$799 for the 2goPad SL10 Pro. This tablet is expected to ship some time in late December and overall looks fairly impressive. It would be nice to see more Windows tablets on the market. via liliputing

HP Slate/HP Slate 500 Unboxed And Revealed

December 3, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with No Comments.

We've blogged about the HP Slate (or now known as the HP Slate 500) having been shipping out of it's manufacturers, and into our hands. Now, it seems like it's already in some of our hands, and is out the box. All this is confirmed via the picktures that have recently been posted online - much like the one we have above. Excited about getting yours or perhaps wanting to now place an order? Well, let's just remind you one more time what it's about - the HP Slate 500 is more oriented towards business use, rather than consumer fun, and runs Windows 7 professional, which supports a wide range of Windows programmes which makes it great for a business environment. As for it's specs: It is powered by Intel Atom Z530 processor chip (1.6GHz), 1GB of non-upgradable DDR RAM, and has a 1024 x 600

Onkyo Windows 7 Tablet Snooping About

November 29, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

For all you fans of the satirical and lazy little white dog, Onkyo has recently launched a Windows 7 tablet - the TW117A4 - with a limited edition Snoopy and Peanuts theme on it's UI. Not only can you dress like Charlie Brown for your next dress-up party, you will now also be able to make all your friends say "you've taken this too far" by whipping out your special snoopy tablet, and do your best to convince them to scroll through Snoopy strips on the snoopylicious device with you. This nutty Peanutty tablet is powered by an ATOM CPU N450 and has a 10.1-inch (WSVGA) touchscreen. I wonder if Snoop Doggy-Dogg will be sporting one of these bad-boyz anytime soonz? via akihabaranews

Fujitsu Shows Off Windows 7 Slate Prototype

November 26, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

At the VISIT 2010 show in Germany this week, Fujistu was spied showing off a new Windows 7 slate they plan to bring to the market. Not much is known - it's a 10-incher, runs Windows 7 and is supposed to hit the market in early 2011. Will it be Tegra-2 powered? Will it run an Intel Atom chip? Will it utilise AMD's Ontario APU, like a recently announced Acer tablet? Someone presumably knows, but we don't, so leave a comment if YOU do. via liliputing
