RAmos MID Lineup Revealed

October 27, 2010 by HS in Ramos, Tablet with 3 Comments.

The whole RAmos upcoming MID lineup has been unveiled, 5 new MID units some of which look mighty interesting. Headlining are the new W9 and W11 RK2818 devices, with the W7 2.0 folling up, the T11AD MID and, finally, a surprising W10, an ARM Cortex A9-powered device and the first of its kind that we've seen from RAmos. After the break we've got the rundown, with images and specs for your digestion. First let's go through the ones we know about: the T11AD, the W9 and the W11. The T11AD, left, is a 5-inch 800x480 MID being housed in the familiar RAmos T11 frame - it still looks good and is one of RAmos' most enduring designs. It runs on the Rockchip Rk2818 chip, which means Android 2.1 and "720p" video decoding, though you are not likely to get much mileage at that HD resolution. The

The 5-inch RAmos W7 MID, powered by the Rockchip RK2808 processor and running Android 1.5 has been disassembled by the folks over at midbbs and, quite frankly, it's all mundanely interesting in that way technological entrails often gets. For an entire walkthrough of the process, with details of which bit does what, browse over the full stripping down. via midbbs

RAmos W7 Reviewed at iMP3

June 7, 2010 by HS in Ramos, Tablet with No Comments.

The good people at iMP3 have done a pretty thorough review of the RAmos W7 4.8-inch MID/player (it is capable of playing up to 720p videos). This RAmos W7 MID, as I'm sure you know by know, runs on Android 1.5 and uses the Rockchip RK2808 chip, designed specifically for Android in mind. The review is generally favourable - read it here. via iMP3

RAmos W7 Hands-On Video

May 31, 2010 by HS in Ramos with No Comments.

The video doesn't exactly bare all of the RAmos W7 for you to see - it has to be admitted that the video only gives a very basic rundown of the player - but at least you get to see it in some action which is useful considering the internet buzz that the impending release and availability of the W7 has engendered. The one interesting feature is the display of the iBook-lookalike feature like an actual bookshelf - but of course, this is nothing new in the world of e-readers, but something new for RAmos. The player looks thin and well crafted and seems comfortable to hold. If not a winner then at least a step in the right direction. via ClonedinChina

RAmos W7 getting ready to set sail to retail stores

May 27, 2010 by Raz in Android, Ramos, Rockchip with 2 Comments.

Its been almost 6 months since when RAmos had originally planned on releasing their RK2808 powered, Android based,  W7 MID, but the long wait is all over, the first batch is packed and getting ready to set sail to a retail store near you, near you meaning somewhere in China. Check out the juicy picture we have in store for you after the jump. Ok i lied, its not that juicy, but it does confirm that the W7 is going to be hitting retail shops in China in the next few days. The 8GB will retail for RMB$999, about USD$147, this is about RMB$300 cheaper than the original announced pricing. RAmos do intend to release a 16GB variant, but don't ask us when that may hit the streets. Via Forums

Atom Powered, W7 iPad Clone

April 26, 2010 by HS in Other, Random with No Comments.

Use underpowered processor: check. Use overpowered operating system: check. Recycle iPhone stylings: check. Rename it to something similar: check. There you have it, an iPad clone called 'ePad' that may only be barely more streamlined an experience than rollerskating on gravel. It features a 10.1 inch touch screen with a resolution of 1024x600, also supporting Wifi, 3G, GPS, the rotating G-sensor and GPS. All of this on an Atom N450 1.66g processor using an integrated GMA 3150. Hard drive sizes range from 160 to 320 GB, there can be 1G or 2G memory - not really the sort of specs to load Windows 7 onto but, alas, the developers of this product, the likes of which are by now fairly familiar, have decided to go full steam ahead with Windows 7, all of this for the price of $394 USD. Windows Phone 7 to Xbox Live

April 26, 2010 by HS in Phone with No Comments.

Though it is still a while away from launch (my last count, months), the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is doing a remarkable job of staying afloat despite the turbulent waves of competition. It is not really that surprising - Microsoft know what they're doing (from a hype-building standpoint) and have recently illuminated that they are determined to make mobile gaming for the Windows Phone 7 a success. One of the problems that has prevalently plagued the mobile gaming landscape is the "race to zero", otherwise known as the "too-many-bad-titles-the-good-ones-don't-stand-out" syndrome. How often have you been dissatisfied with a mobile game title? Perhaps nearly every time. Microsoft is (apparently) committed to ensuring that games developed for the Windows Phone 7 are high quality, c

Two new RAmos W7 Video demos {Video}

March 27, 2010 by Raz in Android, Ramos with No Comments.

Two more beta testers of the RAmos W7 have uploaded videos showing off various features of the new player. This RK2808 Android based PMP does look nice, but the video demos should not only be an indication of how the W7 performs, but how the RK2808 handles Android and how Rockchip is implementing and customizing Android for use as a PMP OS. Second video after the break.

More RAmos W7 Sneak Shots

March 24, 2010 by Raz in Android, Ramos with No Comments.

Well if you are new here and don't know what the RAmos W7 is, then click this linky to find out more. Those who have been following the W7 development enjoy more random pictures of the RAmos W7, most likely these were taken by one of the beta testers that have the W7. BTW this beta tester must be a bit of an avid fan of Rockchip by the looks of the wall paper they have on the W7. It's also interesting that we haven't seen one W7 unit with any logo printing on the back, something that you would definitely expect to see.....hmmm...... This RK2808 Android player looks familiar (w/ Video)

March 12, 2010 by Raz in Android, PMP with No Comments.

I don't know if Hott bought the same design plans as RAmos or they are simply OEMing it from RAmos, but the Hott MD500 certainly looks exactly like the RAmos W7. Aside from the fact the two look the same, the video that is shot of this device does give a little more insight to how Android is being configured for these RK2808 based players. Check out the video after the jump. Via Engadget & ARMDevices
