So i am loving my Chuwi W3000 right now, with the new firmware that i got from Chuwi i was able to get ScummVM to properly run on, most in part to GAPI now properly configured to run on the W3000. The games work very well and look great on the W3000. I've spent quite sometime replaying DOTT again :)
(filmed on my digital camera, hence the poorer quality of the video and sound than normal)

We received the English firmware recently for the W3000, so i thought i would make some short videos demonstrating how the W3000 handles different apps and popular websites. On this first installment you can see how popular social networking site Facebook is handled on this baby. Overall its handled quite well, Facebook being a heavy script laden site does have certain pages that can take long to load, while others load lightning fast.

Having a wealth of video in your pocket for commuting or travel is one thing and we all know today's screens are more than capable of satisfying every time.
When you take those videos inside and delve into the world of TV-Out, however, it's another thing altogether.
So, here's a handy rundown of the TV-Out quality of different players in our bid to serve you well for an evening in front of the TV.
The test begins after the break.
Nationite OS-81
The first to be put under the scrutinous eye of the TV test team is the 0S 81.
In an age where technology is advancing at a rate of knots, this big player from last year fared well considering.
The 640 x 480 standard composite video output was comparable to that of an old Chinese DVD player I own. A cut above VCD quality, the ima

Well i finally got the Chuwi W3000 sample about two days ago and i will right away say, i am pretty darn impressed with it, oh i know what you're thinking, it runs WinCE, the AntiChrist of mobile device platforms, but i got to saw, Chuwi has tweaked it to make it certainly one of the more interesting players that i have seen in sometime.
Ok well, its good, but it does have its flaws, like one being that the WinCE is only in simplified Chinese :( but the upside is that (at least i am) quite familiar with the layout of WinCE so i wasn't completely in the dark on how to use the OS, unlike when i used the SmartQ Q5.
Overall Design and build quality:
I will admit that the player actually looks much better than how the Chuwi promo renderings made it look, the o
Chuwi new W3000 MID looks to expand on its functionality by also being a decent comic book reader, from the images we can see that the high resolution screen (800x480) gives for some crisp image quality. The program used here, Mangi MeeyaCE looks like a decent comic book reader with numerous options.
Whats most attractive about this comic book reader with the W3000, is the compact size of the W3000 makes it quite a pocketable device, unlike similar devices, the W3000 could easily fit in your pocket, along with the quick boot up time for the player, we are looking at quite a handy device.

Chuwi's W3000 MID seem to be a quick starter, within 15seconds the MID is up and running, when compared to the SmartQ Q5, which takes 45 seconds to a minute to start, the W3000 looks like a darn Ferrari. Now comparing WinCE loading to a scaled down Ubuntu OS may not be fair, but for those that just want to quickly start up their player and start browsing the web or watch a video, waiting a minute can seem like forever and you would certainly hope that something as compact as the W3000 would startup fast.

Chuwi sent us over some images of their new W3000 MID, some images look to be off a finished prototype and another seems to be an unfinished model with no Chuwi branding on it. The actual device is pretty small, with only a 4.1" screen it does make for a more compact MID compared to what else is there.
We have also been told that the device will have bluetooth and GPS, along with Wifi, but only the Wifi will be built in, the other two will be via USB. Apparently the bluetooth dongle will come with the player, but the GPS antenna will be sold separately. Still no word on pricing, but we will speculate that this will be lowest priced of the current MIDs that are coming out from China.

Chuwi has released more images of their upcoming MID, the W3000. The initial images of the MID didn't exactly make it look like a stunner, but the real images look strikingly more impressive than the renderings. The W3000, which will run on WinCE 5.0, will have wifi and possibly GPS and bluetooth, the touch screen size is still unconfirmed. What makes the W3000 really stand out from the rest of the current WinCE MID's coming out of China is that this will be running on the South Korean Telechips ARM processor.
The Telechips 7901 that is being used on the W3000 is touted as a dual core ARM microproccesor with a built in DSP. The processor is being claimed to be better for this type of MID as its geared towards better performance for audio and video playback, while also being designed
Chuwi has finally released information and inital renderings of their W3000 MID device. It seems their design is going to either loved or hated by the end user, I for one actually like the design as its just different from the rest of the pack.
There really isn't to much information about the player itself, much of what comes off from the google translate sounds a bit wishy washy, like Chuwi themselves are still undecided about the actual final specs. One thing we do know if that it will most likely have a screen larger than 4.3" and will be running WinCE, but with some sort of customized desktop. It will obviously come with wifi built in, hopefully bluetooth also. No other real specs apart from those two tid bits, check the gallery for a few more images.
