Viliv X70 Tablet Specs Revealed

January 7, 2011 by HS in Tablet, Viliv, Windows Tablet with No Comments.

We knew that the Viliv X70 was going to be at CES this year, but when we last wrote of it, we didn't know of the specs. We've since scrounged them up and, though not unexpected, they are still impressive. The X70 Windows 7 slate will run on - you guessed it - Windows 7 OS (Starter / Home Premium editions), will be powered by Intel Oak Trail Atom processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, comes with 1 or 2GB of RAM, features a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display (1024 x 600), WiFi b/g/n, 3G (HSPA or EVDO or WIMAX) and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, a 32/64 GB SSD, HDMI-out, a mini-USB port, a g-sensor, a built-in GPS module, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and a rear-facing 3-megapixel camera, a 5600mAh battery for claimed 6 hours operation time. Whew - definitely an all-out impressive spec sheet. W

Viliv’s Second Generation X70 Windows 7 Slate

January 7, 2011 by HS in Tablet, Viliv, Windows Tablet with 4 Comments.

CES 2011 sees Viliv unveiling their second generation X70 Windows 7 tablet and it is certainly a mysterious one. Though not many specs have been released yet, the 7-inch (1024 x 600) tablet will supposedly use "Intel's next generation mobile CPU" - hopefully more information is known shortly. The tablet has been confirmed to have 2GB RAM and weigh in at approximately 420g. It'll also have a capacitive touchscreen, as we would expect from the high-profile likes of Viliv (remember the much swooned-upon N5?), and Viliv themselves claim this to be one of the slimmest Windows 7 tablets around. via umpcportal

128GB SSD Version of Viliv N5 Incoming

August 19, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

Hanwha Japan are on schedule to bring in a version of the Viliv N5 UMPC/MID that will feature within a 128GB SSD, rather than the lowly-by-comparison 32GB that comes in the standard version. You can expect this to rather negatively affect prices to the tune of what is certain to be a pretty penny. Pricing information has not yet been revealed but don't expect this "upgrade" to come on the cheap. Either way, it's good news for the UMPC crowd as it certainly offers greater flexibility. 32GB is, quite simply put, a very tight amount to work within. via akihabaranews

Video: Viliv S5 Hacked Running Android 2.2

August 13, 2010 by HS in Android, Tablet, Video with 2 Comments.

The x86 Viliv S5 tablet has been hacked by resourceful folks to run on Android 2.2 (FroYo). The Viliv S5 usually runs on Windows XP. It seems to run fairly well, which is cool, but there is a catch; a hurdle; a problem... the image has not been released because there are problems getting the proprietary Intel drivers for the GMA graphics chipset inside the S5 to work properly. Though those in the video seem to have accomplished it, it appears they are unwilling to release the image file just yet. Either way, cool stuff and another small step forward. Viliv X70: Elusive & Exclusive

August 9, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

South Korean company Viliv have really rocked the blog world recently with their earlier releases like the N5 UMPC and X10 tablet. Now we look at the X70 - positively impressive, in keeping with reputation, impossibly hard to get and only for those few in the know or lucky enough to have snatched one up. This MID/tablet has a 7-inch resistive touchscreen with a 1024x600 resolution (800x480 is not good enough for Viliv), is powered by the Intel Atom Z520 processor clocked at 1.33 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32GB on-board storage, and runs Windows XP Home Edition. It's impressive and sure to be expensive. via midbbs

The much touted N5 UMPC/MID is soon to be released, and will be hitting the shelves priced at around $500 USD which is, to put it lightly, not a particularly cheap offering. Viliv N5 MID Reviewed

The folks over at Akihabaranews have done a quick writeup of the Viliv N5, the much awaited MID from Korean manufacturer Viliv, and definitely a nice-looking clamshell design. The conclusion is extremely positive ("the N5 is a no-brainer and you should not hesitate a second") and the only drawback of this great looking MID is the screen glare, which can be reduced through the simple application of an anti-glare filter. The above video shows the MID in action, and you get a good sense of its scale and functionality. A recommended watch. Viliv N5 MID Video Surfaces

June 11, 2010 by HS in Tablet, Video with No Comments.

The N5 MID, which has been eagerly awaited from recognised Korean maker Viliv, was reported as being delayed to some point in June and, surely enough, the MID has showed up at Computex and, quoting from the video, is supposed to be hitting shelves in around "2 weeks" with full pricing information to be unvilived unveiled then. The video above doesn't show the Viliv N5 in action, but you get a sense of scale of its UMPC form factor and a quick glimpse at the Windows XP Home OS. Apparently the Viliv N5 might also be coming in two flavours - one with 3G and one without, so expect pricing to differ on those fronts if that speculation proves true. To refresh your memory, rumours of specs - and now seemingly all but confirmed - the sleek device will be powered by the Atom Z520 processor c
