What's that? An antenna on the V5? No - it's actually the stylus that comes with the V5. However, the interesting thing is that the stylus is placed near WiFi antenna... yup, put 2 and 2 together and you might deduce that extending the telescoping metal in its place actually increases WiFi connection strength. This revelation came to light over at SmartQMID.com's forums with a user using WiFi Analyzer app to measure the WiFi strength. The stylus acts as an antenna - there is no denying that. Cool stuff - images of WiFi Analyzer's results after the break. Lastly, if you have a V5 - be sure to try this if you can only achieve a weak WiFi connection!

SmartQ are coming out with a refresh of their popular MID/player, the V5. The refresh brings with it two important new features: a g-sensor, or accelerometer (so you can now play those balancing games!) as well as Bluetooth connectivity, which might allow for BT keyboards / controllers etc. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any other difference. The V5 will still be a 4.3-inch 800x480 device, running on Android 2.1 and capable of 1080p video playback. It's got HDMI out too and won't be expected to retail for much more than the original V5 did. All in all, a meaningful update from SmartQ. I think.

Cowon looks to be releasing another media player in January, this pretty slick looking player looks to run on WinCE 6.0, some may cringe at hearing WinCE, but its more than common for Korean media players to run on some sort of modififed version of WinCE.
Like other Korean based WinCE players, this will probably a have a totally custom UI, but will probably not allow full access to the WinCE interface, its another very common thing for Korean players to lock down the ability for users to fully utilize the wince OS.
The V5 will come with a 4.8": high res screen with a touch screen interface. Although specific hardware information is limited, the V5 will have a RSS reader, which leads me to suspect that this will have wifi built in and some sort of internet connectivity. The V5 w
