The Beatles Go Digital Via USB

November 4, 2009 by Tom in Accessories with No Comments.

The long-running Beatles vs iTunes saga take a turn this December with the release of all the remastered albums on a limited edition USB stick. 30,000 of the $279.99 (!) shaped USBs will be sold, just in time for the Christmas cash in. The albums will come on the 16GB capacity drives in FLAC 44.1 Khz 24 bit files and also virtually packaged is liner notes and mini-documentaries. It's still hard to see why it's so hard to fathom purchasing a CD copy of the albums and ripping it but for those who refuse to listen to 'Hey Jude' on anything other than 100% downloaded versions this should help bridge the gap. Teclast X23 USB DAP

October 29, 2009 by Tom in Teclast with No Comments.

Following Cube's C3 USB MP3 player we reported on earlier in the week,  Teclast have got their own take on the pen-drive styled players. The X23 has a very similar design with the black and white OLED screen, directional controls but the USB part is capped rather than retracted. Soundwise it could do the business with its use of the Rockchip RKnano and it supports MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, APE and more. The sound is coloured using the Microsoft PlayFX system. No price or capacities have been announced. Discuss on the MP4Nation forum. Via Imp3

Cube C3 USB MP3 Player

October 27, 2009 by Tom in Cube with 1 Comment.

Cube's C3 MP3 player is an amalgamation of a DAP and a USB stick, cutting out the middle man USB cable. The USB connection is retractable, giving it a flick-knife edge to those with a broad imagination or too much time to fiddle with it. Made of PVC, the player boasts 30 hours playback, a 4-direction joypadesque control system mounted on the front and a 1.1 inch black and white OLED display. It also has a mic with recording time of up to 60 hours on the 2GB memory. Yours for a ticket to China and 199 yuan ($30). Via imp3 Discuss on the MP4Nation forum.

Juicy Couture Pink Scottie Dog Portable Speakers

October 14, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

Here's a set of portable speakers from trendy clothes folk Juicy Couture. It's a pair of dogs which have speakers lodged in them somewhere and a USB cable and aux jack coming out of them (again, it's left unsaid where...) Unsurprisingly there's no tech specs provided but it's pretty certain sound quality and wattage details won't be the primary concern of the people who buy this pair of pink puppies. They'll be at a Juicy Couture near you soon for $68. [Via ChipChick] Discuss on the forum.

Pedal Power USB Bike Charger

September 4, 2009 by Tom in Accessories with No Comments.

Here's a pretty cool charger for those who like to bike. The BioLogic FreeCharge puts a dynamo on a bike wheel that then charges a battery powered USB hub which you in turn plug your MP3 player/PMP or indeed any other USB-chargable device  into. It is available for a fairly hefty $100 but could prove invaluable to endurance riders or folk on biking holidays. Those of us who might just use a bike to nip to the shops once in a while would probably be best just charging up before we leave the house. [Via Gizmodo]

USB Cassette MP3 Player Storage Is As Big As Your Card

August 31, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

Despite some pretty dodgy graphics, this retro-styled MP3 player has a certain charm, not least that its storage capabilities are limited only to the size of your SD card. That said, with no display trawling through a 4GB card of music could become tiresome pretty quickly. Still, for a cheap ($22), pretty cool novelty player you could do worse. It's drag and drop USB and has simple control buttons along one side. [Via SlipperyBrick]

Mighty Mini Boombox Amp & Speakers Key Chains

August 17, 2009 by Tom in Accessories with No Comments.

There are few other words to describe the average mini speaker other than tinny and horrible but Mighty claim to have done the impossible and produced mini speakers that pack a punch. The keychain mini boombox and mini amp have a built-in rechargable USB battery pack which adds much-needed weight to the sound and they are provide two and a half hours of playback from your mp3 player through the standard 3.5mm audio jack. Hopefully these have a little more substance to them than just a snazzy design. [Via slipperybrick]
