Looks like Ramos aren't the only ones overhauling their UI. Window have recently released these teaser shots for their N series of Android slates - and it looks quite nice. With a squarer and flatter look than we are accustomed to with Android, the overhauled UI is actually impressive in a minimalistic kind of way, with nice icons and, despite the many widgets, lacking the feel of clutter that Android homescreens always seem to get. Not much else is known - presumably this will come for soon-to-be-released Window N models, as there hasn't been any indication that this will be ported to older models via firmware updates or the like (though 2.2 firmwares have been promised). It is likely that new production runs of the tablets will ship with this UI, though. Tell us what you think of it on
We're not sure if this W series refers to the W10/9 tablets that are already out, or if it refers to upcoming tablets that will sport the W model monicker, but this recently uploaded video to Youku (and then to Youtube thanks to forum member rowwor) by Ramos teases a new and fancy-looking UI that is decidedly different that the bog standard Android. In fact, it almost looks like Honeycomb...

Don't be mistaken - this is no app available on the market. It only exists as a concept at the moment, but as a very smooth and logical concept for Android handsets. The video above shows off this ultra cool concept UI with slick animations and a logical order to the home screen with appropriate priority placed on the various integrated widgets. However, we can't see where the replacement for the default "Menu" is that leads you to app selection, so that is a bit curious, but presumably its there somewhere. Either way, its the sort of UI that would work really great on Android phones and perhaps not so well on tablet devices and MIDs - slick, cool and a heck of a lot more inviting than the default Android pre-Honeycomb getup.

There is news of a new itoos player, the M9HDP, floating around, however nothing has been made official except for a few snaps of the UI it will have. Quite frankly, it looks fairly nice. We're not sure if it is a widget-based system - it seems like it might be - but playful use of colour perhaps suggests a more relaxed approach to PMP UI's from itoos, indicating it may be targeted at customers less... enthusiastic. We don't know much more about this, but more news on itoos' latest player as it filters down the grape vine. In the meantime, more images of the casual UI after the break.

Slick UI is a replacement user interface that is being currently developed for Android - and from the images above it certainly does live up to its name, and then some. The main highlight of the replacement UI takes place at centre-stage, with the scrollable wheel (looking like that Simon-says game), called the Wonder Wheel, displaying information below it as you scroll through whichever 4 apps you happen to have in it. Further, the app launcher has been customised to extraordinary lengths, being split into 3 parts (current apps, running apps and what looks like a recently used apps tab). It's all very cool and should be available on the marketplace soon - but it is obviously designed for phones. One wonders how (or if) this will work on tablets or MIDs like the MIDnite and RockTab. The BM-889's touchscreen UI has been previewed and is looking pretty functional, whilst remaining multifunctional.
For a rundown and pic of the 5 inch player's interface click after the jump.
Here's the UI and we can see everything's laid out nicely and within touch from the main screen which also handily displays a clock, date, track information (if music's playing), battery life, date and day (hopefully the next software update will change 'Satday').
The screen uses Blue Morning's "magnetic induction" touchscreen technology which is currently as ambiguous as the other hidden specs. Everything tbc.

This video recently showed up on the net, it clearly demonstrates a possible new UI for the Meizu m8, however is this real or a fan-made video, we know that Meizu is overhauling their UI, to make it more unique and less similar to the iPhone. The video does show a far more creative and attractive UI than what is currently on the M8, but something about this just says fan made - maybe because its a little too nice to be real ;)

The first images of Ainols V3000 user interface have been released, it looks like a mix between the Onda VX767 UI (which makes us suspect it will be running on the same JZ4740 chip) and a iPhonish UI. The UI looks nice but we have to speculate that it will probably look even nicer on the hi res WVGA screen that is to be used on this player.

The M8 is undergoing further changes once again. We understand from the photo above that the M8 user interface will make use of dialog boxes, those shaded areas you see on the screen. Here’s how Meizu CEO Jack Wong’s words when it is translated into English:
We re-do the m8 the UI, some inside the icon function blocks also need to continue to further amendments, the following examples may not be the final version of the icon.
