NVIDIA’s Quad-Core Tegra Kal-El With Glowball Demo

May 31, 2011 by HS in Hardware News, NVIDIA, Other, Video with No Comments.

In this demo used to illustrate the power behind NVIDIA's upcoming Kal-El quad-core Tegra SoC, we see a glowing ball illuminate every pixel of every object in the scene with dynamic lighting - a 3D feat previously impossible by mobile processors. It's really quite an impressive demo, and the video above far better conveys that than any words could here. Suffice it to say, though, that we're looking forward to what looks like a very powerful mobile future. The question is: will we be sacrificing power efficiency overly for all the bells and whistles? via ubergizmo

Point Of View With Mobii Tegra Tab

November 4, 2010 by HS in Tablet, Video with 1 Comment.

Company Point Of View, widely known in the PC graphics card industry (as well as netbooks and notebooks, albeit less prolifically), are now joining the Tegra tablet-train with their Android 2.2 Mobii tab, a 10.1-inch iPad-competitor wielding a capacitive touchscreen (1024x600), an NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 51MB internal storage (a little anemic...). Rounding out the feature set is HDMI, WiFi b/g, optional 3G, a 1.3-megapixel camera and a 3300mAh battery. The Mobii is expected to hit the market next year, but we're not sure how much of a splash it's going to make amidst the sea of Tegra tablets floating about, not to mention lesser powered ones. We hope that POV can continue their graphics card tradition and compete on the price front rather than try to masq

Meopad – Tegra-Powered Win CE 6 MID

September 21, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

Taxan Japan have made an odd choice with their Meopad, an Nvidia Tegra powered device, by having it run on Windows CE 6.0, which is sort of unusual these days, not to mention that not many people actually like that OS, for various reasons. The Meopad (MEO-T740) will run R3 of the OS, is 7-inches (800x480) and is powered by the Nvidia APX 2600 Tegra chip clocked at 600MHz. It's got 512MB RAM, 4GB NAND flash memory, as well as WiFi B/G, a Mini HD port, a G-sensor and sold with various accessories such as the keyboard and pouch you see pictured above. The Meopad is also able to decode 720p videos, and do Youtube video thanks to FlashLite. It's scheduled to hit the Japanese market around the end of October for some 40,000 JPY. An interesting and curious device, to say the lease. via akiha

ZuneHD Review Points To Positive

August 6, 2009 by Tom in PMP with 1 Comment.

A CNET reviewer was given a pair of ZuneHDs to fiddle with for an hour and has left the experience with a smile. Donald Bell suggests the iPod Touch still has the edge but ZunrHD the ZuneHD does offer “one of the richest music experiences on a portable device.” The focus of the ZuneHD is multimedia content and HD support is guaranteed by the Nvidia Tegra chip, allowing HDMI output for 720p support. This big screen output is good news for those not enamoured with the 480x272 resolution screen. Back to the music, the music files interface apparently impresses with its strong dedication to detail and info including band information, photos and artist recommendations. Browsing is another thing to look out for as it has its own browser (developed by the IE team) which “smokes.

July 25, 2009 by Tom in Accessories with No Comments.

In a slight departure from the bog standard, JVC have released their latest iPod dock with the ability to swivel its 4.3 inch screen. Don’t go thinking you’ll be able to watch the videos stored on your iPod though, it’s reserved purely for the built in 1Seg digital TV tuner or WMV stored on a USB. The 15  x 15 watt NX-TC5 also features 512MB of onboard storage for photos, AM/FM tuner and a CD player that rips audio to MD or USB. See Japan and late August for release. It will be around $655.
