We received a pretty plain email today from JXD and attached to it was a package of images, as of late JXD performance, as a MP4 maker, has been somewhat mixed, their JXD 980 show some serious promise, but the overall poor UI killed the true possibility of what the Sunplus 8000 chip could do.
Well enter the JXD 990, this player apparently, in my internet searching of this player, has been a hidden secret for a bit, not sure what the big deal was, but anyways here are the first renderings of the JXD 990. It will use the Sunplus 8000 chipset, which can perform very well for video, although not as good as the 720p chipset.
Overall, apart from the looks of the player, we think this will be a pretty similar player to that of the JXD 980. it looks to have a 4.3? screen (LTPS maybe), 2MP
Ok so by the end of the video you will probably be wondering why we are selling this player, because of its very low price and very good video performance, well better than performance than the RK27xx chipset and the older ingenic chipset.
Those watching may be disappointed with the other features, but i want to stress, this player is ONLY good for video, although the audio quality from the Sunplus 8000 chip is surprisingly good, the music player, being so poorly developed, make its pointless to be used as an audio player.
Anyways, good budget, hi res video support player - everything else, this player is absolutely horrible for (hope i made my point clear). Who know JXD may release a firmware that greatly improves the UI, we can always dream.

I received this last week the new JXD 980, a 4.3" screen player which uses the new Sunplus 8000 chipset. The Sunplus 8000 chipset is one of the new generation chipsets capable of playing higher resolution videos, the advertised resolution that is can max handle is 1280x720, other chipsets claim this also and consider them capable of playing '720p' resolution. The Sunplus 8000 can play high resolution videos at a high frame rate and retain audio sync, but not at the advertised resolution of 1280x720.
The overall build quality of the JXD 980 isn't the best that i have seen, the front does look nice, but the buttons are cheap looking and feel cheap and they all have a very clicky sound to them. The back is not that nice, although it looks nice from a bit of distance, when you touch it th
Oh my, i almost started to am drooling all over the new Sunplus 8000 media chip that is soon to come out. The Sunplus 8000 chipset will be a tri core chip with a ARM926, DSP and 3D graphic engine all built into one low priced (read CHEAP) chip. The chip will be capable of playing hi res videos that are up to a resolution of 1280x720, this is something that we have not yet seen in any Chinese MP4 Player and for the most part in any other PMP from anywhere else.
Sunplus is claiming that the new chip, with its 3D engine, will be capable of supporting 8/16/32 and 64bit games, so expect to see some serious consle emulation on players carrying this chip set.
One of the added features of the chipset is its ability for added peripherals, the company claims that CMMB (Hi Def video transmissio
