Video: New Xperia Play Advert By Sony Ericsson – Thumbs Up Or Down?

March 15, 2011 by Alex in Android Phone, Other, Sony, Video with No Comments.

'The Doner' is the prequel advertisement to Sony Ericsson's dark and outrageous original Xperia Play advert. In the original, we see the unavailing of a shoddy but successful operation done on a conflictingly innocent-looking Android in an underground setting somewhere in Asia. I won't go into what was done to the Android - you'll have to find out yourself from the original ad video after the break. The prequal - 'The Doner" is a clip that explains how the situation in the original advert came to be. Concept wise, the ad is pretty great and darkly humorous, however I wouldn't necessarily give it two thumbs up as I was expecting a tad bit more with the Android in the clips. However, that's just my opinion and there may even be more related adverts to come. Check our the original and the p

The Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7 Is A Discontinued Prototype

March 8, 2011 by Alex in Other, Other Phone, Phone, Sony with 1 Comment.

R.I.P Windows Phone 7. Sony Ericsson have announced that their WIndows 7 handset will no longer be on their production line. The model having recently been sighted sparked interest and inquisitiveness over the fact that Sony Ericsson are coming out with a Windows 7 OS device. This comes especially after their statement of them wanting to be the world's largest Android handset maker. If that's the case, dropping the Windows Phone 7 makes perfect sense. However, anything can go with this kind of thing - we have no idea what Sony Ericsson have up their sleeve, if anything at all. via ubergizmo

MWC 2011 – Hands On With The Xperia Play

February 14, 2011 by Alex in Phone with No Comments.

The guys over at Akihabaranews managed to get hands-on with a pre-released Xperia Play - the lucky sods! Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play is a PlayStation Phone that has a slide-out game pad, turning it onto its side and into a portable gaming device - much like the PSP. With gaming on portable devices on the rise, the Xperia Play is definitely a contender in this street fight of devices. Lets take a look at how it performed. With Android 2.3 Gingerbread being the latest Android version for smartphones (until the 2.4 release of course) and definitely a plus, the hands-on was more focused on the gaming ability than the phone's other specs - although the OS was said to run very smoothly with no hick-ups. Gaming wise, the Xperia Play comes with a nice set of 50 different games. Unfortunately,

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Coming On Friday

February 7, 2011 by HS in Phone with 2 Comments.

Quite possibly Sony Ericsson's most anticipated phone to date, the Xperia Play has received an official launch date of Friday, 11th February 2011. The date may seem inauspicious to some (note: we made a mistake and got the date's mixed up - 11th, not 13th. Auspicious out of the window.), but within that lies a certain bang, a certain confidence - one that is altogether relieving for us, the consumer. While PSP emulation on an Android device seems like opening a can of worms into the world of hacking and piracy, there is little doubt that much effort will go into the securing and prevention of such nefarious activities. We can't wait to see this phone in action on a video that isn't a leak, that isn't shot in some vacant parking lot of your local fast food chain. via akihabaranews

McDee’s And The Parking Lot – Perfect Places To Play With Your Xperia Play

January 18, 2011 by Alex in Phone, Video with 1 Comment.

Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play A.K.A the PlayStation Phone has recently been spotted being played with at McDonald's and a parking lot - respectively. This on-the-go, play-as-you-eat, play-as-you...have-just-parked-your-car device is doing some pretty hardcore viral marketing. Forget Sony Ericsson's top secret testing lair, they've opted for a the average Joe's playing ground to show people what life is really like if you own one. Unless of course those places are fake sets that have been set up at Sony Ericsson's top secret testing lair. Watch the videos after the break. via ubergizmo

Video, Games, Phone (A Video Of Games Played On Phone) – The Xperia Play

January 11, 2011 by Alex in Phone with No Comments.

Yup, there is now a video of a couple of games being played on the Xperia Play A.K.A, the PlayStation Phone. The yet-to-be-released Sony Ericsson device has cropped up before, but none to show its anticipated game handling skills with both Resident Evil 2 (Biohazard 2) and Rage Racer. Unfortuantely, we still have no evidence of its official and finalised gaming functionality, as the games being played on the Xperia Play in the video were in fact loaded up via ROM buddy - a third party Android app for running ROMs. Despite this, the games seem to run smoothly, and has made me want to re-play Resident Evil 2 all over again. With the phone being powerful enough to play PlayStation games, it could be up there with the iPhone, Sony PSP and PSPgo. via ubergizmo

Xperia Arc Runs Android 2.4? But…

January 11, 2011 by Alex in Android, Android News, Phone with 1 Comment.

But there is no 2.4? With the fact that Gingerbread is now Android 2.3, and Hnoeycomb being 3.0, it was a strange observation for CES goers when they spotted the Xperia Arc's Android version to be 2.4. According to the Sony Ericsson Product Blog, the Android figures spotted on the slim new phone showed up due to a misconfiguration and that everyone should not allow their panties to get into a twist (not their words exactly...). Whether this is a cover up or not, I think most people have moved on from Android 2.x and have buzzed-off towards the Honeycomb (pun intended). via ubergizmo

PSP Phone Clone Already!?

November 8, 2010 by Alex in Phone with 1 Comment.

Cloning companies are becoming more quick on their draw when it comes to cloning devices merely spoken about and leaked over the web. There are now images of the Sony PSP clone however some of the specs  seem to be a mystery. One thing is for certain - that is not a real Android U.I, but rather a marketing attempt although Android is supposedly going to be running on the official phone. The Look of the actual clone phone does make for anticipating the apparently confirmed release of the official Sony PSP phone quite an exciting one. According to the clone, we can expect a touchscreen (this particular one being 3.5-inches) as well as a sliding button pad and a front and rear 0.3 megapixel camera. With this clone's primary function being a phone complete with 2 SIM card slots, it also s

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Smartphone with RACHAEL Android UI

November 4, 2009 by Tom in Phone with No Comments.

Hot off the press is news of Sony's forthcoming and pretty damn good sounding XPERIA X10 smartphone. It's powered by a 1 Ghz Snapdragon, has a 4 inch scratch-resistant TFT screen, an 8.1 megapixel camera with face recognition and preloaded smart apps including Timescape and Mediascape. It also has an 8GB memory card, up to 1GB phone memory and the much-toted Android RACHAEL interface, all adding up to them more than likely to live up to their promise of providing one of the best User Experience (UX) platforms. Expect to see this nifty beast make a splash in 2010. [Via AkihabaraNews] Discuss on the MP4Nation forum.

Sony-Ericsson’s ‘World-Changing’ “SensMe Control” Earbuds

September 22, 2009 by Tom in Accessories with No Comments.

After Sony-Ericsson's much hyped talk of forever changing the way you listen to music, here is the result. It's their buttonless "Motion Activated" MH907 earbuds that use "SensMe Control" tech. In short this means that when you pop them in your ears your music will start and if you take one out it'll pause what you're listening to. It's not quite the groundbreaking innovation to live up to the hype but if you're interested they work with any Fast Port equipped phone and cost around $60. [Via Engadget] Discuss on our forum.
