What's that? An antenna on the V5? No - it's actually the stylus that comes with the V5. However, the interesting thing is that the stylus is placed near WiFi antenna... yup, put 2 and 2 together and you might deduce that extending the telescoping metal in its place actually increases WiFi connection strength. This revelation came to light over at SmartQMID.com's forums with a user using WiFi Analyzer app to measure the WiFi strength. The stylus acts as an antenna - there is no denying that. Cool stuff - images of WiFi Analyzer's results after the break. Lastly, if you have a V5 - be sure to try this if you can only achieve a weak WiFi connection!

From the exterior to the internals, SmartQ's upcoming MID, the V3, is looking like an exact replica of the V5 model that's been available for a while, only this time it's Android only (as opposed to the Linux/WinCE/Android triple boot). The V3 comes in the same size, 4.3-inch screen with 800x480 resolution, and essentially features identical internals to the V5: 600MHz ARM 11 processor; 256MB DDR2 RAM. The V3 will also have OTG and miniHDMI. Where the V3 drastically differs from the V5, though, is in cost. It's likely to be a sub-USD$100 product, beating out the V5's price by over 50%.

It has 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 4500mAh battery; it also can play 1080p videos which is impressive, and it runs on Android 2.1. All in all, a worthy successor to their 7-inch lineup.
