HiSoundAudio Studio Disection and impressions

March 4, 2010 by Raz in PMP Review with 1 Comment.

I really was not planning on opening the sample of HiSoundAudios Studio so soon, but i was left with no choice as the microsd slot's ejection spring would not work and the recessed microsd port made it impossible to use my nails or anything else to fish it out. I was able to use the device for a little while, but today the earphone socket developed a fault and i can't get sound from the left earphone. I think this maybe in part to me opening it and needing to reset the position of the PCB board. Form factor and body design: The studio is a metallic brick with some serious weight, it has one of the most tried and tested form factors and to some, they will really like the feel and wight of the Studios body, others will not be as impressed. I actually like the feel of the player, th

New Nationite NaNite N1 MP3 Player video review – In HD

September 15, 2009 by Raz in Nationite, PMP Review, Video Review with No Comments.

The Nationite NaNite N1 is the first player in our NaNite MP3 player line, the compact player uses the Sigmatel chipset, has a small OLED screen and is capable of reading and sorting music via ID3 tags. One of the nicest features of the N1 is that it can do 40 hours on continuous audio playback on just 1 hour worth of charging off a PC and to top it off the Sigmatel chipset allows for very nice sound quality. Nationite NaNite N1 MP3 First Look Video Review

June 17, 2009 by Raz in Nationite, PMP, Video Review with 1 Comment.

(Click on the video to the YouTube page and select HD to watch the video is even better quality) Well we've been hinting at our new NaNite line for a bit now, I got round to finally do a video review of the first addition to that line, the N1, much needed seeing how the player are already in production over at the factory. The new NaNite N1 provides for a compact, durable and good quality mp3 device, capable of 40 hours of continuous audio playback with only having charged it for less than two hours. The player has at its core a Sigmatel media processor, providing for quality audio sound, high battery efficiency and sorting of music by ID3 tag information. The N1 is an ideal player to be conveniently carried around in your pocket, be it at work, at the gym or while your joggi

Oppo D36 – Adding classy back to thumb MP3 flash drives

August 20, 2008 by Raz in Oppo, PMP with 3 Comments.

Oppo has announced their new D36 MP3 player, it is a mix between a thumb flash driver and MP3 Player (so no need to carry a USB cable around with you). Oppo has definitely gone with a far more classy style than what we have seen from other Chinese brands releasing similar thumb MP3 flash drives. Many Chinese MP4 makers have been coming out in the last month with new MP3 players, much like the D36, this is because the China market still has significant demand for such players and also because of the release of the Sigmatel 3710 chip - the 3710 chip apparently has very good audio quality and allows for 70 hours (that's right 70) of continuous audio playback on a full charge, oh and players using this chip only need to charge for about 40minuts for a full charge. We speculate pretty m

RAmos RM955 Touchscreen + Bluetooth

March 10, 2008 by Raz in Ramos with No Comments.

RAmos seems to have shown off a new player at CeBit (who knew they were even there), the RM955, based on the Sigmatel SMT36 chipset, is a touch screen MP4 player with built in bluetooth capability for wireless audio. The spec sheet at the Cebit, if you don't take into account the bluetooth, shows this player to be rather standard, 2.8" QVGA touch screen with a 240x320 resolution, AVI, MP3, WMA, JPEG and BMP file support and USB 2.0. The player will come in a 2GB and 4GB model, with expandable memory slot and is slated for an April release. RAmos has previously used the SMT36 chipset and bluetooth combination in their older V150 model and if that player is anything to go by, you can expect the RM955 to be pretty pricey.
