Video: Viliv S5 Hacked Running Android 2.2

August 13, 2010 by HS in Android, Tablet, Video with 2 Comments.

The x86 Viliv S5 tablet has been hacked by resourceful folks to run on Android 2.2 (FroYo). The Viliv S5 usually runs on Windows XP. It seems to run fairly well, which is cool, but there is a catch; a hurdle; a problem... the image has not been released because there are problems getting the proprietary Intel drivers for the GMA graphics chipset inside the S5 to work properly. Though those in the video seem to have accomplished it, it appears they are unwilling to release the image file just yet. Either way, cool stuff and another small step forward. Specs of the Viliv S5 after the break. 1.3GHz Intel Atom processor Intel GMA 500 graphics 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display 32GB SSD GPs Wi-Fi Bluetooth via ubergizmo

New FiiO S5 MP3 speaker system with screen

July 23, 2009 by maderin1 in Accessories, Fiio with No Comments.

FiiO from china who are now well known worldwide in providing high quality but low budget audio solutions to the mass market have served up another interesting little device. The S5 is an updated version of the S3 that was released several months back. The big difference here though is in the added screen on the front of the speaker, the S3 had no screen and just a SD card slot and operation buttons, the S5 adds a color screen and toggle wheels to the side of the body. The mp3 speaker also boasts a SD card reader, internal memory, alarm clock, comes in both white and burgandy red. The speaker seems to have the mp3 chip of the moment bolted into it, the sigmatel chip, which is widely used on most chinese MP3 only players There is a full image review of the speaker over at F

Hot on the heels of the S5 is Viliv's X70, an impressive looking UMPC that boasts a 7-inch display (compared to the S5's 4.8 inches) and a webcam that will allow for mobile Skypeing. There's also an impressive 32GB solid-state hard drive which by slashgear.com reports is impressively fast, the only drawback coming from the 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor which they held accountable for the stuttering when viewing HD YouTube or Hulu. Viliv are yet to release price details. Via Engadget
