The spill about Qualcomm coming out with next-generation Snapdragon processing chips has already been... spilled. It now looks like more spillage has taken place from a leaked Qualcomm roadmap showing when we should be expecting the new chips to be released. Qualcomm's MSM8960 Snapdragon chip is shown to be ready for release later on this year. It will bring with it dual cores capable of reaching a clockspeed of 1.7GHz, as well as support for dual-channel 500MHz of memory,3G and 4G connectivity and an Adreno 225 graphics processor capable of 1080p video playback as well as shooting 20-megapixel pictures... in 3D! Good stuff indeed, however all this magnificence must wreak havoc on battery life, and with a constant 4G connection, also your savings. It's still a guessing game as to who wil
Qualcomm have tooted their horn, announcing that their Snapdragon processing chip - popular among tablets and smartphones - will soon be in around 250 new devices. This is in additional to the already 125 announced Snapdragon powered devices. The announcement of the 250 currently developing Snapdragon tabs was done during this week's Qualcomm Upling event, and is a pretty big achievement for a company that wasn't so well known just a few years ago. Their latest Snapdragon chips can already be found in some of the high-end devices such as the HTC Flyer, Sony's Experia Play smartphone and the upcoming HP TouchPad. As for their next-gen chips, they're expected to be able to run devices sporting Windows 8 as well as linux, Android, webOS and others.

Leaked information on Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon chip has found the company to be sounding rather ambitious and earnest in their latest product-to-come. The company suggested that the new Snapdragon chip would not only beat existing ARM Cortex-A9 chipped devices like the iPad 2 and Motorola Xoom, but will also beat the up-coming Cortex-A15 chip by the time its new chip architecture arrives - the Krait - which Qualcomms four new chip models will be based on: MSM8270, MSM8930, MSM8960, and APQ8064. The new chips will be made on a 28 nanometer processor and is said to be able to run up to 2.5GHz - almost 23% more computing power than the Cortex-A15 chip as well as 47% less power for the same performance. In comparison to the next-gen Snapdragon's predecessor - the new chip should
Qualcomm may be late in the game with developing dual-core processors, but non-the-less they're still impressive pieces of technology. We've always been a fan of their original Snapdragon processor. Now with their upcoming dual-core processors, they've upped their game. The dual-core Snapdragon processing chip features an Adreno 220 graphics processor which enhances 3D effects as well as create smoother stereoscopic HD gaming. To top that off, it's also said to be more power-efficient which is always a good thing. Witness all this goodness for yourself from the Desert Winds trailer which shows off the processor's graphic ability. The game itself looks pretty neat, however I'm sure the ghastly scorpion beast-man actually only wanted to say hi. Watch the video after the break.

Charbax captured this video recently at MWC 2011, showing the the latest edition of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in action - the dual-core MSM8660. What is most impressive about this is that the chip will do 1080p video playback, 1080p 3D video playback and... also does 1080p video recording & simultaneous playback in 3D. All in a package small enough to go into a mobile phone. While the Qualcomm rep seems to do some backpedalling here and there, it becomes clear at the end that this will work on "most" 3DTVs currently available on the market. It's an interesting showcase, and we're eager to find out more about the MSM8660's capabilities. It already seems very powerful, and we're sure that we haven't seen all that it is capable of. Of particular interest is 3D rendering ability,
HP have committed their Touchpad tablet to Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon processor, the APQ8060, the third generation of the Snapdrago0n series. The APQ8060 is also paired with an integrated Adreno 220 GPU to offer full HD 1080p 3D support - and apparently without batting an eyelid. Also comes support for up to a 16-megapixel camera as well as 1080p HD stereoscopic 3D video capture, something also boasted recently by LG with its G-Slate. It will also be able to capture 8-megapixel stereoscopic 3D image stills. HDMI support is expected and provided. The HP webOS Touchpad doesn't actually make use of all that, but nevertheless the potential for it lies within the Snapdragon chip and we'll likely be seeing much more of it soon. See the full press release after the break.

Imaged above is the Asus Eee Pad Memo, a 7-inch tablet that's powered by a dual-core Qualcomm processor. Speaking of Qualcomm, EVP Steve Mollenkopf revealed that there are 20 tablets in development that are to be powered by Qualcomm processors. We're not sure if the already known Asus Eee Pad Memo as well as the Lenovo Lepad count as part of those 20, but if so that's still 18 new tablets coming out that will be powered by Qualcomm. Perhaps the HP Topaz also counts as one, which brings the total down to 17. And what about the HTC Flyer? Well, even if the number of Qualcomm tablets to look forward to that we don't know about falls to 16, it's still a heck of a lot, and we can't wait to hear about them.

Orange Romania have launched a new Android tablet that they've titled 'Orange Tablet" - an award for branching out with that one. The tablet is powered by the formidable 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon - revealed to us as the Orange Tablet is in fact a re-branded Huawei S7 - and has a 7-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 800 x 480. It has 8GB of internal memory, supports an external micro SD card slot and 720p video playback. As for its connectivity - HSDPA/HSUPA and WIFI. It comes with dual cameras as well as stereo speakers, a touch sensor button, an accelerometer (g-sensor), and uses a LI-Ion 2200 mAh battery. It comes complete with Android 2.1 and access to the marketplace, and Orange Romania are offering a 2 year contract that includes 100 text messages and unlimited internet access,
To go along with BYD's recent tablet whom they affectionately named Alice comes the W901T Android 2.2 smartphone, a much less creative naming scheme. We missed this when it came around too, and so are filling you in now. The W901T is powered by the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon at 1GHz (with 512MB RAM), which you'll also find in the HTC Desire HD as well as the recently announced Sharp Galapagos tablets (we think), runs Android 2.2, has an auto-focus 8-megapixel camera, and a 2100mAh battery. It also comes with Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, WAPI, AGPS, an accelerometer, a compass, and is a Dual SIM/USIM capable handset. Whew, it all sounds good so far. No information yet on pricing and availability - it is certainly not a bad looking device.
