The Q7: it's powered by Qualcomm's MSM7627 ARM11-based SoC clocked at 600MHz, so it's not exactly a powerhouse, but it can compete against the A8's that we see in many China tablets to some degree. This 7-inch tablet will have a capacitive touchscreen display, 512MB RAM, come with 3G and GPS built-in as well as feature 2 0.5-megapixel cameras, one front-facing and one rear-facing. It's not a bad looking tablet, with the squarer look expected after the Galaxy Tab hit the market. The Q7 above is just a rendering, but these hardware specs would put a slate like this in very middle-of-the-pack territory with likely a quick EOL timeframe. Honestly, we're wondering when we're going to start hearing about upcoming Honeycomb "Shanzhai" tablets.

Cube have done it again - they've come out with yet another pretty-in-white portable media player - the Q7. This 5-inch touch screen player is like its many Cube brethren and supports many of your common video files such as RMVB, AVI, WMV, FLV, MKV, MP4, MOV, etc. It has a resolution of 800 x 480 and can do 720p video playback. It also uses a touch control widget system making it much more user friendly and easier to operate on, especially with its drag and drop function on the desktop. This widget system hints that it may be using a Rockchip chip, and perhaps "RK Widget 2.0". Also like its brethren, it has extra features such as English-Chinese, Chinese-English dictionary, books, pictures, memos, notepad, clock, calendar, stopwatch, calculator. and MicroSD expansion. Simple, neat, n

Well i finally got to uploading this video review, the ending is cut short a little due to Youtube time limit, also i am not entirly sure why Youtube made this video in to a 4:3 res when the original video is in 16:9.
Anyways hope you enjoy.
Get a SmartQ Q7 Today!
SmartQ today announced two big possible shake ups to their MID line up, not with new products, but with a change in the apparent firmware and UI. Firstly SmartQ has announced the development of a media player only UI dubbed Conola 2, which seems to be a UI dedicated for image, audio and video playback. Those who are familiar with the Q5 will know that the current firmware for the Q5/Q7 is very sluggish and riddled with issues, a lot of issues have to do with poor video and audio format support. Conola 2 seems to be fix to this issue. I guess SmartQ realize that fixing the Ubuntu ARM to work properly maybe to hard of a task and easier to make something like the Conola 2.
Edit: For those like me that don't know, Conola 2 is a media application that was developed for Maemo - Should hav
The people over at UMPC Portal got their hands on a brand spanking new SmartQ Q7 and done a nice unboxing review of it. The first thing that surprised us was the English OS, which has been lacking on the Q5, we were expecting it to have the same default Chinese language OS that the Q5 had.
The video does show off the compact and the seemingly ligh weight of the device, but it does look plasticy and the viewing stand that is attached to the back of it looks quite flimsy. As expected the Q7 performs much like the Q5, a bit sluggish with still bugs to be worked out, however i myself like the slim and light body design, just not a fan of the plasticy material.
We are confirming right now the stock availability of the Q7 and if they will all have English OS, if so then expect it to be on
Well looks like the Q7 has hit (or is about to hit) the market, well at least in China, with a price tag of about USD$190, the Q7 will be a tempting budget MID buy, at least for hose outside of China, within it will be considered on the high end on the PMP price spectrum.
Sadly the Q7 only has a more sleek look and larger screen than the Q5, everything else seems to be the same, meaning you can expect the same sluggish interface with a multitude of bugs. However third party modders should have a field day with this device. More pictures after the break.
I think he's in denial, lol.

SmartQ Q7 has been already spotted, the form factor, from the images, does look nice, but the colors could be better. The Q7 does seem to be the same hardwarewise to the Q5, but only with a larger screen. This is a bit of dissapointment, with the Q5 OS being sluggish out of the box and no real idea if that would improve, we can probably expect the same performance issues with the Q7.
One thing we could look forward to is third party developers porting over a lighter UI allowing for a better performing player.
