ONN OPad-N5 Incoming: 8-Inches, FroYo & A 1GHz Processor

March 10, 2011 by HS in Android Tablet, ONN, Tablet with No Comments.

The last we heard from ONN, they were releasing the OPad-N2, a RK2818-powered 7-inch Android 2.1 tablet that resembled our own RockTab. It seems they seek to retire that with the OPad-N5, sporting a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM as well as Android 2.2 this time around. With recent news of Teclast's soon-to-be-released Android 2.2 firmware upgrade to their own RK2818 tablet, the send out may be a little less dramatic, but the OPad-N5 is shaping up to be a solid tablet. With specs that remind us of the myriad Samsung S5PV210-powered tablets (1GHz; 512MB RAM; Android 2.2), the OPad-N5 will perform well. It is said that the 8-inch panel has a resolution of 1024 x 600, which is interesting as that means it is not a 4:3 aspect ratio tablet but instead widescreen - something we haven't seen in 8-in

ONN OPad-N2 – RK2818 7-Inch Tab

October 11, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

Looking curiously like the Window N6 tablet (hint), the ONN OPad-N2 is a RK2818-sporting 7-inch tab that looks to feature a trackball to aid in UI navigation. RK2818, Rockchip's current lead processor, means that the OPad-N2 will run on Android 2.1, will have support for up to 720p video decoding, an accelerometer, WiFi, 3G etc. ONN are supposedly saying that this RK2818 CPU will be 1GHz, and previous rumours have floated around this speed before. However, we are skeptical here and this is likely a marketing gimmick along the lines of dual core DSP. It's fairly possible that the RK2818 could fall into 600MHz territory. via midbbs

Onn Q5: Portable & Colourful

September 1, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

ONN are releasing a new player aimed primarily at students, the Q5. The Q5 is a 3-inch player (400x240) and is a 720p capable HD player. It's main appeal seems to be the relatively thinness (only 9.5mm thick) as well as a low price and colourful alternatives to the standard blacks and whites we've come to expect from the PMP world. The player is capable of playing the standard array off video file formats including RMVB, AVI, MKV, MOV etc. and, all in all, looks like a solid choice in the 3-inch size. via imp3

ONN V1+ (We Haven’t Forgotten About MP3 Players)

July 13, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

In all this media hype of tablets and pads and MIDs, it's easy to lose track of the tech which arguably started this all: the lowly, simple MP3 player. ONN are releasing a new one, following a string of brightly coloured players that have emerged from other brands in recent times. The ONN MP3 player looks just like a USB stick, is roughly the same size as a USB stick and - what do you know - can double as a USB stick. That there is something fairly cool. It's got a tiny display, tiny buttons, comes in a tiny size (2GB). The screen is a 1.1-inch monochrome OLED, and the MP3 player handles the standard file formats like WMV, WAV, ASF and MP3. Also is an FM radio tuner. via iMP3

4.3-Inch Player From ONN: V11

July 12, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

Fresh from the woodwork is another 4.3-inch offering, this time from ONN. The V11 will handle videos up to "1280p" which tells us it uses the Sochip SC9800 chip, also known as the Boxchip F10. This means that video playback will be good and a vast array of file types will be supported including MKV, AVI, WMV, VOB, MOV, MPG etc. The 4.3-inch screen will sport a nice resolution of 800x480 (thankfully not 480x272) and will have HDMI out. No word on whether this will have OTG support or PDF reading capability, as many Sochip players are getting at the moment. via iMP3

Zol are at it again, those busy bees, with another seven player summary - this time, instead of the 5-inch players they did last time, they are comparing and summarising 7-inch players. If you're in the market for this size, then reading this will definitely give you a heads-up on some of the popular players out there on the market. This summary again comes complete with tabulated specs for each player, good quality photographs and generally tells you everything you need to know sans a video review. The seven players compared are the RAmos T18; the Newman A70HD; the Bmorn BM-996SHD; the Onda VX797HD; the Chuwi M70 Plus; the ONN V9; and the Gemei HD970. Of all these players, only 2 (the RAmos T18 and the ONN V9) are 1080p video playback capable. Read the full rundown to get a feel fo

Owen Onn V9 PMP Jumps To Full HD

January 6, 2010 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

Owen have taken their technology up a notch for the latest in the V series by swapping the CC1600 of the V8 for the Telechips TCC8901, allowing 1080P output from the 7 inch player. The LTPS screen itself runs at 800 x 480 pixels and is more than happy to play all the regular video files, as well as H.264 and HD MKV. Battery life's touted at 6 hours for video and an impressive 30 hours audio playback, using the 3800 millamperes polymer battery. The 8GB model's available at 899 yuan / $131. via imp3 Discuss on the Mp4Nation forum

ONN V2 MP3 Player Mimics Iriver E30

December 15, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

With a passing resemblance to the iRiver E30, the ONN V2’s bare looks are likely to divide opinion. On its side though is the slim 6.8mm width and its ability to play MP3, WMA and WAV audio for up to 30 hours. Working against it is fact it offers video playback on the dodgy looking 1.5 inch screen. Probably best stick to music with this one. Price and date TBA. Via ClonedInChina Discuss on the MP4Nation forum

Owen Onn V8 4.3 Inch PMP With DV Camera

October 12, 2009 by Tom in PMP with 1 Comment.

After their pretty flimsy looking V1 MP3 Player, Owen have introduced the V8 to the series, a 4.3 inch 8GB media player with a built-in 3 mega-pixel camera that not only takes stills but video too. It runs on the CC1600 chip, has a 16:9 TFT screen, plays all the usual video and audio formats (including APE & FLAC lossless), 7 EQ modes, FM radio & transmitter, e-book reader and supports up to 16GB of TF card expansion. It offers 10 hours of video playback, 35 hours of audio and costs around $90 in China. [Via Zol] Discuss on the forum.
