The Nintendo 3DS Handles Unreal Engine 2, Scraps Game Demos And Gains Region Lock

March 25, 2011 by Alex in Other with No Comments.

We have here a triple-news blog about the Nintendo 3DS - Nintendo's 5th model of their NDS portable console which supports 3D graphics. First up we have the 3DS being able to play Unreal Engine 2, pointing out that the 3DS is actually quite a powerful hand-held console. It may not be able to support Unreal Engine 3 and its great graphics, but its not bad at all for an NDS with 3D support. Nintendo are also planning on dropping any game demos offered on the device. 3DS producer, Hideki Konno claims that he is unsure on how effective game demos are. Our response - very effective! It's always a helping hand when you're able to experience a slice of a game before purchasing it. A testament to this would be all the lite versions of app games. We're confident that most would agree when we say

Nintendo 3DS Photos And Video Leak!

January 4, 2011 by Alex in Other with No Comments.

CES 2011 - certainly a time for giddiness and nerd nail-biting excitement as we blog more and more on upcoming devices that blow its predecessors away. One such device is Nintendo's 5th model of their NDS - the Nintendo 3DS, which is set to have its veil officially lifted at CES 2011. However, as these things go, there are already photos and a video leak of the hand-held console (although, no gameplay shown). The images reveal that the 3DS has 96MB of RAM - quite possibly to allows for the 3D screen's additional graphics processing - and uses a whopping 1,300mAh battery for long periods of playtime. More images of the portable device can be found here, and the video can be found after the break. via ubergizmo

Nintendo: Apple “Enemy of the Future”

May 11, 2010 by HS in Random with No Comments.

No, no, not time travel you dolts, we already know that won't work. No, the Nintendo president was referring to, when he made that statement, about the mobile gaming possibilities the Apple iPhone (and now possibly iPad) offer and their monolithic status amidst monumental popularity. Though despite the rather uninspiring yet calculated statement by the Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo is still banking on their upcoming device Nintendo 3DS - essentially a DS with 3D functionality, which actually sounds pretty cool on paper, but then again... so did 3DTV. In other news, Nintendo's DS sales have declined through the 2009 financial year. via Akihabaranews

Chinese Game PMP Stuffed In NES Cart Mod

October 12, 2009 by Tom in Hardware News, PMP with 1 Comment.

The Chinese portable game systems/PMPs have always seemed like they were destined for something more but that's been elusive until now... They can be shuffled around and modded to fit in a NES cartridge! Like all the players, this one has a NES emulator making it the pefect little retro gaming device. If you're looking for big-screen action then the TV-OUT's been retained meaning it's still a fully-functional media player too. For a video of this in action click the link below. Wiipod Wiimote MpWii Player

August 21, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

Inside this inconspicuous Wiimote lies an iPod shuffle, forming a pretty interesting looking mod – a controller for the Nintendo wonder than doubles as an mp3 player. The iPod Shuffle is in fact a fake Shuffle that has also been modified. And within THAT is...no, not really. The handywork is down to champion modder goteking. [Via Slipperybrick]
