Nexus One Gingerbread Update Not For Few Weeks

December 7, 2010 by Alex in Android, Other, Phone with 1 Comment.

There has been speculations about the Nexus One getting an OTA update for Android 2.3 after the announcement of the Nexus S smartphone running Android 2.3 yesterday. This however, is not the case. Even though the Nexus S will be released with Gingerbread, a tweet by Reto Meier states that the OTA update for the Nexus One will not happen until a few weeks later. This may be because of Google wanting their flagship device - the Nexus S - to bring Gingerbread to the public before having their older device - the Nexus One - do so. Fair enough. Via ubergizmo

Video: Windows Phone 7 Browser Comparison

August 25, 2010 by HS in Video with No Comments.

Windows Phone 7 (WP7) devices are certainly starting to pop up here and there and are becoming more widely known. The above video shows a browser comparison between the WP7 browser, the browser of iOS on an Apple iPhone, and the browser of Android on the Google Nexus One. You see the WP7 browser load some sites faster, and some sites slower which is hardly surprising. Also, scrolling and panning/zooming seem on par with the competition. Of note is that this isn't the final version of the software, so it certainly looks promising. via ubergizmo

Google Will Stop Selling Nexus One Online

May 16, 2010 by HS in Phone with No Comments.

Google have announced that they will no longer sell the Nexus One phone online and will instead partner with carriers and sell the phone via those channels. Coincidentally - or perhaps not - Sprint and Verizon have announced they'll know longer carry the Nexus One phone. What does it all mean? Is this a tacit admission of mistake? The phone already looks to be nearing the end of its lifespan. via PMPtoday

Quake III on Nexus One

Yup, that's right. Get your mobile fraggin' on the Nexus One. It's not like this is a new Android port - it's called Kwaak 3 and been around for a while now. But now the Nexus One gets it and surely owners are quaking with anticipation. Ok, that was terrible, but the pun portion of my mind is stuck in neutral. Anyway, watch the video. COOLF910 – Bastard Son of G3 and Nexus One – Android Phone

February 24, 2010 by Raz in Android with No Comments.

You have to give it to the Chinese for being creative, the CoolF910, a Qualcomm 7227 600MHz based Android phone, looks like a G3 and Nexus One had a drunken orgy and this was their illegitimate creation. The phone boast 256mb ram, 512mb rom, 3.2" HVGA capacitive touch screen, Wifi and GPS Although this may not have the most original design, it does have some nice hardware, even the scroll ball is a nice touch, if it functions similar to that of the scroll ball on the Nexus one, then users will find it quite a useful feature. Standard apps that we would expect on an Android device. The CoolF910 isn't the cheapest of kits either, price at RMB$2380 (USD$350) this is quite pricey, especially for the China market, the CoolF910 pricing makes it compete with the like of the Meizu M8

Nexus One getting Flash 10.1 – Video

February 18, 2010 by Raz in Android with No Comments.

WooHoo! The Nexus One (and Android in general) will be getting updates that will support Flash 10.1. What does does this mean, you can stream You Tube or any of those other 'sites' with video flash streaming right in your phone. The video shows that currently Flash 10.1 is using software and not hardware to render videos, hence why the video plays clippy, but this should change once they get hardware rendering going. Google Nexus One gets Update – Multitouch w00t – Video

February 4, 2010 by Raz in Android with No Comments.

Well i was super happy to see this news. I have a Nexus One and i am always impressed with what a nice device it is. It does have it fair share of issue, mostly with some rather annoying bugs that Android has, lets hope that the new upgrade not only adds new features but fixes some of the bugs. I can't wait for the update, i keep checking my phone to see if its available :P Watch the video and read the scoop from Engadget.
