13 Of The Top Current Tablets Gets Ranked On Comparison Table

March 17, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, Other Tablet, Tablet, Windows Tablet with 4 Comments.

A comparison table that compares 13 of the best tablets on offer right now is putting them all into rank in an attempt to see which tablet comes out on top. The comparison table comes courtesy of tabletcommunity.de, and awards points (up to five) for several aspects such as form factor, display, CPU, storage, camera, connectivity and battery. These points are then totaled and coupled with the price of the tablet. These two factors depict where a tablet stands in the ranking. Check the tablet out after the break to see which tablet came out as No. #1. Although I'm pretty sure we've made that pretty obvious... The Motorola Xoom is the tablet to rank as No. #1. However, the table shows that it achieved the same amount of points as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at 29 points, but came out on top

Video: MSI WindPad 100A & Concept Goodies

March 3, 2011 by HS in Android Tablet, MSI, Tablet, Video with No Comments.

Charbax of ARMDevices has shot this video of the WindPad MSI 100A, with a widescreen IPS display panel and capacitive touchpanel. It will be in mass production with Honeycomb, but the display models they have will only be 2.2. But perhaps, more interestingly, are the concept goodies in the MSI display cabinet just behind the representative. Among them is a "dual pad" - 2 independent tablets connected to eachother like a dual-screen tablet, and operating individually. That is very cool, though one wonders how far you can take the extra potential - the ability of people to multitask is generally not something to write home about. via armdevices

MSI Windpad 100W / 232W With Underwhelming Performance?

February 8, 2011 by HS in MSI, Tablet, Windows Tablet with 1 Comment.

The MSI Windpad 100W (or known as the 232W in Europe, which actually gets Windows 7 Home Premium and Bluetooth connectivity) is currently available for order, and it seems that the general sentiment might be that this tablet is slightly underwhelming. It's got pretty decent specs - a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display - we see this resolution on 7-inchers and 10-inchers a bit, but it could have been higher. Curious is the capacitive touchscreen (AKA, tough to use a stylus) on a Windows 7 OS, which would benefit greatly from stylus input rather than wide and fleshy fingers... however, perhaps MSI will release a touch-friendly UI. The SSD, to pair along with the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and 2GB RAM which should be sufficient to have Windows 7 react quite smoothly, but some reports say that the

MSI Windpad 100W On The Market

January 27, 2011 by Alex in Tablet, Windows Tablet with No Comments.

The MSI Windpad 100w is one of those few Windows 7 tablets amongst the horde of Androids. Hailing from Taipei, the tablet has already been released, but not yet so in the USA - until now. Simply Electronics have managed to purchase the tablet from overseas to be sold within the states, but at a hefty price of USD$709.95. To refresh your memory, the tablet is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, has 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, runs Windows Home 7 Premium OS and has a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The specs are good, however from the video review that we previously blogged, it would seem that the Windpad 100w isn't up to scratch with all those new (Honeycomb) tablets out there. via ubergizmo

MSI Windpad 100W Less Than Impressive?

January 4, 2011 by HS in MSI, Tablet, Video, Windows Tablet with 1 Comment.

The recent MSI launch in Taipei of the Windpad 100w 10-inch Windows 7 tablet was hotly anticipated - after all, with Windows 7 tablets so few and far between amongst the sea of Android slates, it's always our hope that one comes out and impresses. Unfortunately, though, the Windpad 100W failed to do that as the hands-on video by Netbooknews who attended the event stresses. It seems that the Windpad has some issues... but find out for yourself by watching the video (hint: there are some touchscreen sensitivity problems). To refresh your memory, the Windpad 100w is powered by the Intel Atom Z530 CPU, runs Windows 7, has a multitouch display, a 32GB SSD with support for 3G via SIM slot, an accelerometer HDMI and webcam as well as front-facing camera. It certainly sounds impressive. Hopefull

Honeycomb For March 2011? Perhaps!

December 24, 2010 by Alex in Android, Android News, Tablet with No Comments.

Android 3.0, or the more cutely named Honeycomb, has been rumoured to make an appearance at the upcoming CES 2011 for some time now. With rumours come the clawing of any thread of information, and one such thread has been pulled. According to a leak from DigiTimes - "MSI is set to display a 10-inch Wintel-based tablet PC (at CES) as well as engineering samples of its ARM-based Google Android model. MSI is also prepared to sell an NVIDIA Tegra 2-based model in April or May after Google releases Android 3.0 in March." Hold on to your panties though, as this is still a report, and not official information. Only time will tell when Google will still the buzzing bees with its offering of Honeycomb. via ubergizmo

MSI WindPad Tablet To Be Introduced At CES 2011

December 14, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with 1 Comment.

MSI have a already introduced two different tablets that have been branded WindPad. MSI have now come out with other WindPads that will be introduced at the 2011 International CES. The apparent release date for the new WindPad tabs will be early next year. We know not much on the new MSI lineup. What we do know is that one of them will have a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen, and run Windows 7 Home Premium as it's OS. This particular tablet will be among the first slates to use the Intel Atom Oak Trail platform which will vastly improve battery life over older Atom processing chips. The 10.1-inch tablet is said to measure less than an inch in depth and has a resolution of 1024 x 800 pixels. It also has a mini HDMI and USB port. There are also a few apparent specs for another MSI WindPad slat

MSI Tablets: Windows 7 Delayed; Android On Track

August 24, 2010 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

In what seems like another blow for two eager companies to get into the tablet mainstream foray (Microsoft and Intel), MSI's Windows 7 tablet has been delayed until "2011" which is, in itself, so vague it leaves me lacking optimism. According to MSI, the delay is due to the adoption of Intel's upcoming Oak Trail platform, which will debut in early 2011. The reason for this switch is that Intel's current offerings are too power-hungry and too slow for MSI's liking. MSI's Android-tablet, the WindPad, is still on track for for a 2010 release - counting down the months. The WindPad will be powered by the ARM-based dual-core Nvidia Tegra 250 chipset and is looking to be a solid addition to the tablet market. MSI's focus on tablets may also reduce their netbook lineup, but that has yet to be

MSI Windows 7 Tablet Specs

August 16, 2010 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

MSI's Windows 7 tablet specs have been revealed. The 10.1-inch tablet will pack a capacitive touchscreen, an Intel Atom Z530 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, WiFi, HDMI-out. Impressive specs to say the least. It will run on the Windows 7 operating system and all in all is looking fairly swell. Price is expected to be at USD$500, but that has yet to be confirmed. Also yet to be confirmed is the release date or when this tablet actually starts shipping. via midbbs

MSI Continues With The MT-V900L

July 27, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

You may remember the MSI MT-V900 player - it was powered by the Rockchip RK2806 and was capable of 720p video playback. Overall it was underwhelming. Now MSI have debuted their MT-V900L model, again in the same size (4.3-inch / 480x272), looks to have a similar aesthetic, is again capable of only 720p video playback indicating it might house the RK2806 again, and duplicates all the features of the MT-V900 including e-book TXT reading, audio playing etc. Basically, this player is a rehash of the original "flagship" model and is presumably going to be slightly cheaper. There are better players on the market today but MSI is a good name. via imp3
