From leaked images to official announcement, we now have a full scope on the Windows 8 Samsung tablet, especially with this great hands on video from Slashgear that first shows us the tablet itself, and then delves into the UI of Windows 8 OS. The Windows 8 tablet was officially revealed and detailed by Microsoft at the BUILD 2011 event, showing off the tablet, its dock and the attachable keyboard, although according to the video, the online keyboard works just as well. The video itself greatly details Windows OS and what it offers. It starts off annoyingly but necessarily sped up as it goes through the physicality of the tablet, but slows to real time as it gets to the good stuff. Check out the good looking Windows 8 OS (although a tad bit laggy) from the video after the break.

A pretty big leak y'all - the yet to be officially released Windows 8 OS has been spotted on a Samsung tablet that has leaked before its official keynote debut at BUILD 2011 that's scheduled today. The credit for the leaked image of the tablet which you can see above goes to Weibo's Michelle Hu, who also managed to capture videos of tablet, but unfortunately they were pulled from Youtube. With that said, you can turn your frown up-side-down as hands-on vids, specs and more images will soon be flocking in from today's debut. We assume more to come of this in due time!

Microsoft have been working long and hard on their new operating system - Windows 8 - and they have finally felt it ready to show the world a little slice of what they've been working on. The company revealed an early version of Windows 8 during the recent D9 conference and has confirmed the fact that it is an OS that's compatible with tablets as well as computers of all different sizes. The new OS has some of the same classic elements as the company's predecessor OS - Windows 7 - and borrows some features from Windows Phone 7 whilst adding new UI elements into the mix. Some major changes from Windows 7 includes a changed start menu to the now customisable tile-based screen. Live tiles now support notifications and displays the latest information from apps such as an incoming message or
Microsoft Research demonstrated a new E-ink tablet during the 2011 CHI conference that has a pretty cool special feature - each tablet is able to work with one another, acting as a a multi-screen set up. Users will be able to drag content from one tablet to another, as well as be able to view content on two tablets at the same time - the two screens will be coupled to make one display screen. You can also browse through books using more than one tablet, having a page display on each screen. The reason behind this is to cut down the cutting down of trees and eventually replace textbooks. With the use of low-powered screens, stylus input and multiple tablet interaction, this will definitely be a step towards being more eco-friendly, but the idea of having to buy multiple tablets let alon
Microsoft has been reported stating that they believe that the tablet won't be around for very long - contradicting thoughts given that their tablet oriented Windows 8 is still being developed and supposedly wont be ready until next year. Microsoft's Windows 7 is even a popular platform choice for non-Android tablets. Their reason for having a lack of faith in tablets - they believe the closing gap between smartphones and laptops will be the death of them, and that tablets were only around as a filler. How will this effect the outcome of Windows 8 or fans of both Microsoft and tablets?

It's all there in the title. Morgan Stanley's analyst company has leaked a roadmap slide revealing that Q1 of 2012 should be when we, the public, will be seeing Windows 8 OS on a tablet. Windows 8 is Microsoft's tablet-orientated operating system that according to Microsoft, will have a more Apple-like interface. The leaked roadmap also happens to fit with Dell's roadmap version, and we can also assume that the Windows 8 tablet will be powered by an ARM architecture chipset. Late to the slate game, Microsoft has had to rely on the HP slate and Asus Eee slate with Windows 7, according to analyst Michael Gartenberg from Gartner research firm. At least now we know when to expect Windows 8 tablets and what Microsoft will be focusing on.

Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system is an OS that's optimized for tablets as opposed to an update for your desktop or notebook. The operating system is to be paraded by Microsoft until the end of its fiscal year in June. A source from Microsoft also revealed that the OS will have a more Apple-like interface as well as using concepts from Microsoft's 'Metro" interface which was developed for their Windows Phone 7. Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet has also made reports on the company recently passing an internal marketing point knows as 'Milestone 2' for Windows 8.

Microsoft Corp. announced yesterday that their next version of Windows will support System on a Chip (SoC) architectures with support for ARM-based systems from NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, whose ARM-based SoCs are popular in the handheld device market today. This shouldn't come as any surprise - NVIDIA president Jen-Hsun Huang puts it well: "Windows on ARM represents a seismic shift for the computing industry. ARM is already the largest and fastest-growing CPU architecture in the world, and today’s major news of Windows will only accelerate its adoption." What implications does this have for other ARM-aimed OS solutions?

It very well could be the case that Windows 8 tablet could be introduced at the CES 2011, as well as a few other devices worth getting giddy over. Microsoft Windows 8-based slates still remain a mystery, but what has been sussed out through the veil that is rumour is that Microsoft will be showing off their operating systems through devices made by Dell and Samsung - which apparently are the weapons of choice for squaring up to Apple and its iPad. The Samsung tab is said to look similar to the iPad albeit slightly thicker (possibly the Samsung Gloria), and as for the Dell tablet - not much info there. It is rumoured that the Windows 8 slate's release is said to be available around H2 2011 or even 2012.

The highly anticipated, Windows run HP slate is rumoured to have begun shipping out from Shanghai. Such rumours have been spread by a certain someone who apparently has PDF proof of the slate having left it's docks. Let's quickly remind everyone of what the HP Slate is - It has an Intel Atom Z530 processor (1.6Ghz), 1GB of non-upgradable DDR2 RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, 8.9" WSVGA display with a resolution of 1024×600, capacitive multitouch with pen/digitiser support, and Intel UMA display chip with HD accelerator and supports 1080p. If the rumour is indeed true, this will be a good runner up for the Galaxy Tab and the iPad, in the hands of slate consumers. Christmas choices just got a little harder.
