March 10, 2010 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

Its speculated that Meizu will be releasing the M9 and there have been rumors to what hardware the phone will pack inside. Although the above picture may just be a very well made fan rendering, it does look pretty good.I am pretty interested in the M9, the M8 has got steady improvements and has quite a nice UI, even its own app store and even now the firmware is still considered to be in development. Meizu App Store Opens – a first in China

March 10, 2010 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

Regardless of how you feel about Meizu and their M8 phone, you have to give it to them to being a cut above the rest from the rest of the phone and pmp makers in China. They are definitely sticking behind their product with releasing new updates which keep fixing bugs and making their M8 even better. Meizu have now opened their own app store for the M8, i am not sure how many apps are currently there, but it looks like apps will be relatively cheap even for China standard. Via Engadget, Meizume

Meizu M8 User Interface Interactive Video Tour

February 23, 2010 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

As you may have seen on a previous video, Meizu has dropped quite a big update for their M8 phone, but you can take the UI experience one step further with this nifty user made M8 UI tour. Click on any of the icons in the video to see what each selection does.I have to give Meizu props for making such a nice UI, even if some of the UI is inspired from the iPhone and Android, but it does show that Meizu does have the talent to at least make a nice and interactive UI. Meizu M8 New UI released and Videoed

February 9, 2010 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

A few months ago Meizu had announced that a new user interface would be rolled out for the their flag ship product, the M8, there have been plenty of images and even a spiffy promo video, but it wasn't till the Feb 6th did Meizu actually dropped the new firmware. There is a certain familiarity in the UI, it seems to be a cross between the iPhone and Android U which is, ironically, running on WinCE 6.0. The update also brought some fixes and new features to the phone These update include (translated by Google): 1. To replace a new user interface 2. ???????? 2. Desktop support for plug-in feature 3. ????????????????? 3. You can drag the icon from the desktop to uninstall programs and plug-ins 4. ??M?????????????????????? 4. Long press M button or by sliding down the middle of the ti

Meizu may be beating about the bush when it comes to an official announcement and adoption of Android but in the mean time tireless fans of the iPhone clone have worked out the Android transplant themselves and shared it via video. In another neighborly step they've also included a step-by-step guide for doing it yourself which you can find and follow here. See the video here - M8 running Android video. Meizu M8 UI Video – Real or Fake – you be the judge

August 27, 2009 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

This video recently showed up on the net, it clearly demonstrates a possible new UI for the Meizu m8, however is this real or a fan-made video, we know that Meizu is overhauling their UI, to make it more unique and less similar to the iPhone. The video does show a far more creative and attractive UI than what is currently on the M8, but something about this just says fan made - maybe because its a little too nice to be real ;) Thankz Hotboxx Discuss on our forums

I got a Meizu M8, muhahahaha

February 3, 2009 by Raz in Meizu with No Comments.

Today i got sent to me a Meizu M8 from a supplier within China. I will snap a lot more pics and videos shortly. Just to give my quick summary on it, its a very stylish phone, light weight and certainly not cheap feeling. Overall the phone quality is very good, great reception, but i have not been able to get GPRS to work as i don't have my carriers settings and Wifi works great, used it in a starbucks, web browsing is cool. Video playback is disappointing, RK2706 players have better video performance and the M8 can't play anything higher than its screen res, anything higher and videos will not play properly. Audio is very good, loud speaker is very nice, sort fine, scrolling is nice, show album art (no cover flow), multiple playlist support. Apps load well, got ScummVM to run,

Meizu M8 gets disected (and not by me)

December 6, 2008 by Raz in Hardware News, Meizu with No Comments.

A guy over at CNMO, a Chinese tech site, has gone and taken apart his new Meizu M8, yes i know there are many Meizu fanboys crying their eyes out at seeing this butchering, but it does help to demonstrate the hi quality build of the M8 itself. Anyone that has taken apart one of those CECT phones will know that most China mobile phones, although are built well, look no way as clean or professionally built as the M8 does. Just one thing to point out, that the images don't highlight is the wolfson audio chip visable when they are showing the samsung nand chip. Much more images here Discuss on our forums Via Engadget
