The Eking M5, though far from the best looking of the bunch, is an MID that is both impressive as well as innovative. We've just learned that it's got a hot swappable battery. That's right. Hot. Swappable. If you find you're running low on battery, all you have to do is put the system into standby mode, and then swap out the battery. It's that simple... you don't lose any data, your session is not shut down. Though the practicality might not be mind blowing (after all, how many spare batteries do you carry?) it is a convenient method for changing batteries on the fly if you're doing some usage. There's a video of it in action (in Cantonese) after the break, as well as a reminder of the specs this MID packs.

The good people over at Netbooknews were walking around CES 2010 when they came upon Yifang, a Chinese PMP maker, who till now hasn't really made any real remarkable players, but with their M5, this may change.
The M5 is a Rockchip based player that runs on Android and has Wifi, our guess is that it is probably no different that the RAmos W7 and runs on the RK2808 media processor. We have been waiting quite awhile to see the W7, so we were really excited to see real life proof that there would be other companies releasing RK2808 Android based player. I always knew other companies would follow in making RK2808 Android players, but i thought we would have to wait much longer, looks like we won't.

The CEC M5 is a Chinese PMP which not only supports 720P video playback but also has am SMD TV reciever and can record the TV stream.
Admittedly not much use for TV outside of China, the M5 is still a regular 4.3 inch player which supports RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, 3GP, MPG, DAT, VOB, MP4, MOV, ASF and WMV video.
On the audio front it has 12 EQ settings and 7 3D sound variations. Playback is set at 20 hours music and 5 hours video.
The capacity choices are 4GB, 8GB and 16GB, all of which are expandable with up to 16GB TF cards.
It measures 118 x 72 x 9mm and comes in three colours; sapphire blue, silver and frosted silver.
No prices or dates have been announced.
