Google And LG Are Working On A ‘Nexus Tablet’?

March 29, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, Tablet with No Comments.

Rumour has it that Google and LG are working to create the first Nexus brand Tablet. We've got Nexus Google Android phones - HTC's Nexus One and Samsung's Nexus S. Now Google might be teaming up with LG to come out with a tablet that will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and could be out this year. Tablets are paving the way of the future and Google seems to know that so hopefully this isn't just hearsay as we're sure a Nexus tablet will be a pretty stellar device. Rumours also speculate that the Nexus tablet may be getting software updates from Google before third party tablets. via liliputing

13 Of The Top Current Tablets Gets Ranked On Comparison Table

March 17, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, Other Tablet, Tablet, Windows Tablet with 4 Comments.

A comparison table that compares 13 of the best tablets on offer right now is putting them all into rank in an attempt to see which tablet comes out on top. The comparison table comes courtesy of tabletcommunity.de, and awards points (up to five) for several aspects such as form factor, display, CPU, storage, camera, connectivity and battery. These points are then totaled and coupled with the price of the tablet. These two factors depict where a tablet stands in the ranking. Check the tablet out after the break to see which tablet came out as No. #1. Although I'm pretty sure we've made that pretty obvious... The Motorola Xoom is the tablet to rank as No. #1. However, the table shows that it achieved the same amount of points as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at 29 points, but came out on top

OMG FAIL: LG Optimus Pad Performs Poorly On Stage At LG Optimus Introduction

February 16, 2011 by Alex in Other with No Comments.

LG have two Optimus devices that were shown on stage at this years Mobile Word Congress - the LG Optimus 3D smartphone and the (recently blogged) Optimus Pad tablet. The Optimus 3D is the first dual-core smartphone to be able to capture 3D as well as display it. The Optimus 3D also has HDMI- and DLNA-out and its Quadrant benchmark showed a score of 2958. The MWC introduction also included several promo clips for the device. Now to the juicy gossip - next up was the Optimus Pad, formally known as the G-Slate. During the tablets time in the lime-light, its video call function was showed off. However, to the dismay of LG, the image quality was not up to scratch and the video chat receiver could not be heard, which led to a prompt 'goodbye' and a wrap up of the tablets introduction to the

Video: MWC 2011 – LG Optimus Pad’s Hands-on

February 15, 2011 by Alex in Tablet, Video with 1 Comment.

Here's another of the many hands-on videos that are currently floating around on tech sites. This hands-on is of the impressive LG Optimus Pad, previously dubbed the LG G-Slate. The LG Optimus Pad's major selling point is its ability to capture 3D HD video via its two 5-megapixel cameras situated at the back, complete with flash. This can then be linkup up and played back on a 3D HD TV through the HDMI or DLNA out. Another plus for the tablet would be its operating system - Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The OS offers smooth UI, multitasking and well... looks pretty darn great. It's also currently the most customizable OS, and allows for customizing up to 5 different desktops via a plus button on the top of the screen. Tapping this plus button opens up 5 desktop windows, which you can then add a

MWC 2011 Sees Debut Of LG’s Optimus Pad

February 14, 2011 by Alex in Tablet with No Comments.

MWC, much like CES, is a hotbed of new technology with announcements here and showcases there. One such announcement that was actually made at the pre-MWC conference was the debut of LG's Optimus Pad - formally known as LG's G-Slate. The tablet's debut coincided with the debut of three other LG Optimus handsets - Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X. The Optimus Pad is a tablet that uses the good looking Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, as well as the powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 processing chip. But what separates this slate from the rest are the 2 built-in rear cameras capable of capturing 1080p HD 3D image and video content. The 8.9-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 768, can do 1080p HD video playback and has a 3D display. This is definitely a tablet worth keeping both eyes on as more

Video: LG G-Slate Hands On

The LG G-Slate, which has also been dubbed the LG Optimus Pad, has made a revealing appearance - the tablet will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, will be powered by a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, NVIDIA's currently leading ARM solution. Also ont he tab will be a 2-megapixel videocall camera that is front-facing, and camera sensors at the back which will perform the much-vaunted sterescopic 3D image capture, in up to 1080p HD. 32GB of internal memory also, and we're left wondering what price this thing will debut at. It certainly looks the best, and comes in a nice 8.9-inch size, with a 3D display, which is a tad more portable than 10-inches, and a tad more usable than 7-inchers. via tablet-news

LG G-Slate Coming In Q2 2011?

February 7, 2011 by HS in Tablet with No Comments.

We already know a fair bit about the LG G-Slate, recently unveiled by T-Mobile and LG. It's an 8.9-inch Android 3.0 Honeycomb tab. It's powered by the dual A9-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, can capture 1080p HD 3D picture, comes with 32GB of internal storage, is capable of 720p HD video playback (not 1080? Surprising!). It's essentially the first big-name tablet to feature 3D capability. It's looking to be a beast. But when is it coming out? That's the question on everybody's minds. The photograph above of a leaked T-Mobile roadmap document quietly gives us a time frame of expected delivery: Q2 2011. Look forward to the G-Slate as early as March, according to a press release from LG... which is odd as March is Q1. via ubergizmo

LG G-Slate Will Have 3D Cameras?

February 1, 2011 by HS in Tablet, Video with No Comments.

LG's G-Slate was recently videoed (again) by a YouTube user.  In the video, MysteryGuitarM casually pulls out the tablet when referencing devices that can record stereoscopic 3D imagery - a surprise appearance for sure. While he doesn't refer to the tablet by name, and only holds it up for just a few seconds, it seems that the "with Google" branding is quite similar to a recent LG smartphone, the LG Optimus 2X. Other than the two videos, the LG G-Slate seems to, ironically, remain a mystery as we haven't heard anything official yet from LG other than the fact it will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, as well as support 3G and 4G connectivity. It's certainly a bit weird, to say the least - is LG orchestrating these odd  cameos popping up here and there? Video after the break. via lilipu

Is This The LG Honeycomb Tablet?

January 24, 2011 by HS in Tablet with 1 Comment.

LG will be releasing an Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet at some point in the near future - but that is just about all that is known. The image above appeared in a Korean pop star's music video - perhaps this is what it will look like? Only time will tell. Either way, slate designs can only vary so much, so this is hardly ground breaking. via akihabaranews
