Itoos’ M16 Tablet Dualboots Android Gingerbread And Melis 3.0

May 6, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, itoos, Tablet with No Comments.

The M16 tablet by itoos boots up two operating systems - Android 2.3 (Gungerbread) and Melis 3.0 OS (although we have not really come across Melis before). The tablet is marketed more for its media playback abilities with attributes such as 1080p video playback support and TV out which can then be controled via an infrared remote control. There's actually not much else out on the device such as what processor, screen size or connectivity it has which makes this device questionable as to whether it is a tablet or a dualboot smart PMP. The M16 is said to be compatible with most of your common video, audio, image and text formats and should be able to handle Android game apps fine. The device itself looks basic and nice and actually, an awful lot like a portable media player. In fact, so bl

A Look At The itoos i7 A8-Based Tablet

March 4, 2011 by HS in Android Tablet, itoos, Tablet with No Comments.

You may remember the itoos i7 announced a while back - at that time, we only got treated to drawings. Now, we get a look at what the i7 tablet will look like and it doesn't look too bad, though nothing out of this world either. It's got an interesting button at the bottom of its frame, presumably a remappable back or home button, and presumably buttons along the side for further control. Other than that, we don't see much else of it. itoos, however, are boasting about their built-in mic and how you can do Google searches with voice recognition. Pretty cool (you'll see images after the break). To refresh your memory, a 7-inch tablet running on Android 2.2 and powered by the ARM Cortex A8-based Samsung S5PV210 chip clocked at 1GHz with a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor on the SoC. 512M

Upcoming itoos M9HDP MP4 Player With Flashy UI

January 14, 2011 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

There is news of a new itoos player, the M9HDP, floating around, however nothing has been made official except for a few snaps of the UI it will have. Quite frankly, it looks fairly nice. We're not sure if it is a widget-based system - it seems like it might be - but playful use of colour perhaps suggests a more relaxed approach to PMP UI's from itoos, indicating it may be targeted at customers less... enthusiastic. We don't know much more about this, but more news on itoos' latest player as it filters down the grape vine. In the meantime, more images of the casual UI after the break. via imp3

iToos With Their Own Cortex A8 Tablet Offering

January 6, 2011 by HS in Tablet with 2 Comments.

Itoo's have announced their i7, a 7-inch tablet running on Android 2.2 and powered by the ARM Cortex A8-based Samsung S5PV210 chip clocked at 1GHz with a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor on the SoC. The specs themselves are quite impressive. The i7 will also launch with 512MB DDR2 RAM and a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display. Support for 3G dongles via USB HOST, as well as an accelerometer and 1080p video HD playback round out what we know of the tablet now, and it is far from unimpressive. More and more low-cost pads in the Chinese market are being powered by the S5PV210 A8 processor - we're eager to see what itoos manages to do with it. via imp3

Itoos I3 Officially Announced

December 23, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

The Itoos I3 has been officially announced in 8GB flavour. It certainly does look great, and the UI looks to be widget-based like we've seen on recent PMPs. It was widely rumoured that the I3 would be an MID, but it turns out it's just another MP4 player - and that doesn't take away from it. What it lacks in versatility and connectivity in today's ever-connected world, it makes up for in sleek design and HD 1080p video playback. Coming in at a portable 5-inches (800x480), this touch + button operated player is one of the better looking ones we've seen and the 1080p video playback capability is more than enough to place this player firmly in the top echelon. HDMI output and OTG support round out the feature set, along with an infra red port for remote control, presumably. We're not sure w

Catching Up: Itoos MID I5

December 14, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with No Comments.

The Itoos I5 MID, which we missed last week,  is another Telelchips powered MID to come rolling into what is fast becoming a market as saturated as MP4 players before it. It's powered by the Telechips TCC8902 chip, meaning that one of it's boons is 1080p video playback, but we are somewhat doubtful of how well Android 2.1 operates on it - certainly not to the level of efficiency that we've seen from Cortex A8 devices or Rockchip devices. Lending further doubt is the fact that the I5 is in a standard APAD shell - a possibly not so stable shell that has build quality concerns. Rounding out the specs is a resistive touchscreen, WiFi connectivity and support for 3G dongles, as well as an accelerometer. Itoos also recent announced their  MID I3 - a sleek, slender and almost phone-like MID

The Itoos I3 – Possibly The Sleekest MID Yet

December 3, 2010 by Alex in Tablet with 2 Comments.

The Itoos I3 is a new MID that resembles more a phone than any tablet. It's sleek black, thin shell and back camera would be the bell ringer's markings. Apparently one of 6, the Itoos I3 is a new development in fashion, 'science' and technology and could very well be the new frontier of chic, hip MID's. In regard to Itoos I3's features and hardware, we have yet to know. What is confirmed however, is that the Itoos I3 will be developed. We also do know that the Itoos I5 - a previous Itoos device - uses the Telechip 8902 processing chip - the same as what's in our Telepad's - which means it very well could be able to play HD video. It also has a 7-inch screen. Whether the Itoos I3 has the same or similar, like mentioned, we don't know. It looks like this black beauty will remain a myster

itoos E6 With Animated Widget UI

September 3, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

The above image is the animated UI of the upcoming PMP, the itooes E6. Following the likes of Window with a widget-like, animated flash UI, itoos are hoping to up sales counts with this admittedly superfluous gimmick. While the animated UI is cool, one get's the feeling it gets very boring very quickly... once the initial novelty has worn off inside of 5 minutes. Either way, itoos are steaming ahead with their E6 release. What the E6 does have going for it, though, is that it's a damn good looking PMP. Image after the break. via imp3

itoos M19HD Disassembled… Boxchip F15?

August 26, 2010 by HS in Hardware News, Other with No Comments.

The itoos M19Hd as been disassembled over at imp3, and has uncovered a somewhat perplexing discovery: it's housing the Boxchip F15 chip. The itoos M19HD, as previously reported, is a 768p capable player, which indicates it uses the Sochip SC8600 chip, which is also known as the Boxchip F16. However, this player houses the F15... are there any differences? It's yet unknown, but one has to wonder at the seemingly arbitrary number change. Surely it couldn't be a typo? Anyway, more M19HD internals including the unexpected Infineon DDR2 RAM after the break. [gallery columns="4"] Discuss this Boxchip F15 on our forums. via imp3

itoos’ New 4.3-Incher: M19HD

August 6, 2010 by HS in PMP with 1 Comment.

With some strange model naming jumps, itoos have released their new 4.3-inch PMP, the M19HD. The last model we heard about from them was the M9HD which is a curious model number decision. The M19HD is a "768p" capable player, meaning it likely runs on the Sochip SC8600 chip which is also known as the Boxchip F16. As such it supports a wide array of video file format types, including all of the standard ones (such as RM/RMVB, MPG, WMV, AVI, MKV, FLV, MP4 etc.). It is likely that the screen resolution will be 480x272. All in all solid, though indistinct. via imp3
