Indie Game Developer Doesn’t Blame Piracy

May 12, 2010 by HS in Random with 2 Comments.

Groundbreaking, isn't it? Has hell frozen over? Have pigs started flying? We all know that game developers cite piracy as the reason why they want to move away from producing games for the PC, or when discussing revenue losses. However, indie game developer Wolfire Games' (who have recently released the Humble-Indie-Bundle where you decide your own price) David Rosen goes bravely against the grain by not citing piracy. So why are PC games really losing sales? Well according to Rosen, it's not solely because of piracy, which he says is wildly misunderstood. He believes that the real problem and is behind the sales losses is that the games in question are designed for consoles first and PCs second. God, isn't that what us gamers have been saying for ages? He puts it extremely blun

Quake III on Nexus One

Yup, that's right. Get your mobile fraggin' on the Nexus One. It's not like this is a new Android port - it's called Kwaak 3 and been around for a while now. But now the Nexus One gets it and surely owners are quaking with anticipation. Ok, that was terrible, but the pun portion of my mind is stuck in neutral. Anyway, watch the video. Nintendo: Apple “Enemy of the Future”

May 11, 2010 by HS in Random with No Comments.

No, no, not time travel you dolts, we already know that won't work. No, the Nintendo president was referring to, when he made that statement, about the mobile gaming possibilities the Apple iPhone (and now possibly iPad) offer and their monolithic status amidst monumental popularity. Though despite the rather uninspiring yet calculated statement by the Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo is still banking on their upcoming device Nintendo 3DS - essentially a DS with 3D functionality, which actually sounds pretty cool on paper, but then again... so did 3DTV. In other news, Nintendo's DS sales have declined through the 2009 financial year. via Akihabaranews

Avatar on the iPad – Clash of the Titans

April 27, 2010 by HS in Apple with No Comments.

Clash of the titans indeed, two marketing titans. I suppose we all tired of hearing about the iPad and "James Cameron's Avatar" quite a while ago, but people like to touch it where it hurts. Gameloft officially announced the availability of Avatar on the iPad not long ago, and from screenshots we can tell that the graphics have been quite heftily improved when compared to the iPhone version of the same game of the same name based on the movie of the same name. The iPad game Avatar is a bit more expensive, though. via PMPtoday

Venus JXD300 – Games, Music and Movies

June 18, 2009 by Tom in PMP with 1 Comment.

No-name game machines are not usually the most exciting things but the Chinese Venus JXD300's PSP-stylings, GBA & NES compatibility and impressive video capabilities make it a little more noteworthy. The JXD300 has a 3-inch screen and supports RMVB, RM, AVI, VOB, DAT, MPG and FLV at resolutions up to 1280 x 720. Also onboard is a TV-OUT, a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, digital recording (4G – up to 200 hours), MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC and more audio supported, e-book reader and a customisable interface among much more. There's no price information but with this piece of kit you could flick between a NES emulation of Super Mario and the Mario movie with ease. Ok, maybe the PSP GO's just got the edge on this one...
