Video: Cartelps11 Unboxes Window G85 & Newman/Newsmy Momo M-Touch

November 25, 2010 by HS in Forum Member Related, Newsmy, PMP Review with No Comments.

Forum member cartelps11 has written up reviews (as well as down video unboxing) of the Window G85 player (with the new and improved widget-based system) as well as the Newman / Newsmy Momo M-Touch WinCE-based player. Below are his conclusions on the Window G85 and videos after the break. Window G85: "I've had this player now for about a week. And I can honestly say that I might start buying for Window products if there the same build quality as the G85. It really feels solid compared to other devices. This has been getting much attention when I take it to school. I really like that the plastic isn't glossy, I don't know how else to describe it other than that it is soft and feels good. Even though it's white colored it still looks new even though I've been taking it everywhere wit

Window G85 Upgraded And Released

July 16, 2010 by HS in PMP with 1 Comment.

The UI improvements for the Window G85 - well, we say improvements but really they've just switched over to the widget system of the G89 - have been completed and the player has now been officially released and so shelves should be stocking with them soon. The "new" widget system allows you to switch around your basic landing screen view. This means you can rearrange the menu, remove items, have widgets like the current song playing or a clock display on one of the 2-3 default landings. Not bad but they are increasing the price of this re-release, unsurprisingly. via pconline

Window G85 UI Updates Made Official

June 28, 2010 by HS in PMP with No Comments.

The talk before of the Window G85 to be getting an overhaul which will include the new UI from the more recent model, the G89, has started being put out on the internet as an official announcement meaning that there is an impending release announcement on the horizon. The new UI brings a widget functionality, which allows you to drag and drop icons and various widget offerings where you like them. This means the menu becomes configurable - you can move it to the top or sides, and the widgets are able to be places around at your convenience. Certainly a step forward in giving users the customization ability of the UI that they have always wanted, but many of the widgets are superfluous for a simple PMP and one wonders if Window is buttering the same slice of bread a little too much. Window G85 To Get New UI

June 21, 2010 by HS in PMP with 1 Comment.

In a proposed upgrade for the G85 including a firmware update, the most drastic change being brought about is the new UI which looks similar to the Window G89 UI which featured an interesting - if largely useless - widget system. The new firmware - not yet in its final form - is also meant to be fixing a few bugs including a crash when sliding through pictures, some intermittent video crashing problems as well as, supposedly - though kind of vague - providing video optimization for better playback. We'll just wait a see, but firmware support is never a bad thing. Discuss this on our forums. via iMP3

Window G85 Rich UI Video Review

April 26, 2010 by Raz in Video Review with No Comments.

I finally found some time to get the Window G85 review done. Overall the player is very nice, the UI does have a few bugs, but for the most part the UI is quite click and responsive to touch inputs on the resistive touch screen. Window have done a very good job on the screen that is being used on this player, it really displays images and videos very well and has really good viewing angles.

Windows G85 UI Continues to Impress – Now with Cover Flow (Almost)

December 15, 2009 by Raz in PMP with No Comments.

More pictures are surfacing of what Windows new G85 players user interface will look like. So far i have been quite impressed with how the UI will look on this 4.3" touch screen player. One of the interesting things i spotted on this latest release of UI shots is the possible covert art browsing, which we do know is possible as it has been utilized on other Rockchip based players, such as the RAmos T9HD. Overall the G85 looks to be shaping upto having quite a very nice looking UI, although to this date the UI shots have been renderings and no real images are our yet of how it really looks on the player. The G85 is a RK2728B based player, capable of playing multiple video formats, inlcuding MKV, AVI, RMVB and FLV. It's also can play videos that are upto 1280 x 720 resolution and has
