DJing and DivX: New Samsung R1 PMP Announced

The latest from the Samsung camp is the R1 PMP which they boast is the world's first official DivX-capable player and the lightest at 50g. It also comes with their new “Beat DJ” feature which allows users to add their own voice and sound effects to songs as well as to scratch. As horrible as this idea sounds, it's another selling point for the 2.6 inch PMP which is quite impressively thin at 8.9mm. The R1 uses the tried and tested TouchWiz UI, as seen on Samsung full touch screen mobile phones, transfer is via drag and drop and the sound is powered by Samsung's DNSe 3.0 “Digital Natural Sound Engine”. Models will come in 8GB and 16GB sizes when it's released later this year. [Via AkihabaraNews]
