From Korea comes these fun looking DAPs which have 27 LEDs that can be user programmed to display your own little icons and pictures or used to play rock/paper/scissors. They're 12mm thick and have 12 hours audio playback. What they don't have attached as yet is the price or capacity. See after the jump for a diagram of the detailed workings. Teclast X23 USB DAP

October 29, 2009 by Tom in Teclast with No Comments.

Following Cube's C3 USB MP3 player we reported on earlier in the week,  Teclast have got their own take on the pen-drive styled players. The X23 has a very similar design with the black and white OLED screen, directional controls but the USB part is capped rather than retracted. Soundwise it could do the business with its use of the Rockchip RKnano and it supports MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, APE and more. The sound is coloured using the Microsoft PlayFX system. No price or capacities have been announced. Discuss on the MP4Nation forum. Via Imp3

Cube C3 USB MP3 Player

October 27, 2009 by Tom in Cube with 1 Comment.

Cube's C3 MP3 player is an amalgamation of a DAP and a USB stick, cutting out the middle man USB cable. The USB connection is retractable, giving it a flick-knife edge to those with a broad imagination or too much time to fiddle with it. Made of PVC, the player boasts 30 hours playback, a 4-direction joypadesque control system mounted on the front and a 1.1 inch black and white OLED display. It also has a mic with recording time of up to 60 hours on the 2GB memory. Yours for a ticket to China and 199 yuan ($30). Via imp3 Discuss on the MP4Nation forum.

iRiver End N20 Pendant MP3 Player 3 Year Mystery

September 28, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

For 3 years the iRiver N20 has been banded around as vaporware but now its re-surfaced appearance may mean it's actually going to get a release. Back then it was slated as being the smallest DAP with a screen but the updated design seems to be headed in a screenless direction and a more streamlined, fashionable shape (if you're into 9-volt batteries). Teclast X16 MP3 Player

September 25, 2009 by Tom in PMP with No Comments.

Looking quite domino/Nationite OS-72HR remote control-like, the Teclast X16 is a small and simple, budget DAP. It carries 2GB or 4GB of music and has a 1 inch 128 x 64 resolution screen for navigation and lyric display. The X16 also has 15 hours of battery life, 7 EQ modes, a recorder (up to 76 hours) and a host of playback functions. A compromise for its utilitarian looks is the 99RMB/$15 price tag for the 2GB model. [Via imp3] Discuss on our forum.

Nationite NaNite N1 MP3 Player/DAP Review

September 21, 2009 by Tom in Nationite, PMP Review with No Comments.

The 2GB/4GB tiny baby brother of all Nationite players gets put through its paces in this review. See how it fared after the break. Nustled among this big package is a small player. To find out exactly how small, see the size comparison from a few weeks back. If you've not got the time, let's just say it's as high as a credit card is wide and about as thick as a nice quality pen. That's the inital reactions out of the way - what's in the box! In the nice slide out, 2 box packaging is the player, a USB cable, an instruction manual and a set of basic headphones. All in all, the standard affair for an MP3 player. Getting Around The small size means everything is controlable by one thumb while it sits snugly in the palm. Thankfully, unlike a lot of other small players, t

Freshly introduced to the Asian market is yet another novelty digital audio player. This time it's iRiver who have set their sights on the dollars of lovers of all things cutesy. The player has a respectable 2GB of internal memory, is pretty small and light (45.2 x 17 x 35.5mm & 16g) and comes with the choice of two skins, a 'Pink Teddy Bear' one and for off days, the 'Black Devil' silicon cover. It has 10 hours of battery life, a 40Hz - 20kHz bandwith and a 13mWx2Ch at 16? output. There are 5 EQ modes and it's available in Japan on Friday. [Via Akihabaranews]
