Modular Player Concept Is Really Cool

This concept by Chinese designer Shao Wen is extremely interesting but does not seem like a viable option down the line. The concept is essentially this: you start off with a screen - a display - a panel - and depending on what you want to do on that panel, you "plug in" or attach a module which then provides certain features. For example, you might want to plug in a module that turns your screen into a PMP, or perhaps a different module which turns it into a portable gaming console. Shao Wen has even conceptualised a mobile phone module. The reasoning behind it is simple: when you try to cram too many features into one single device, it either becomes bloated, messy or both. The concept is definitely cool, but is unfortunately unlikely to be realised outside of novelty collector items.
