The folks over at zol have compared and summarised, complete with pictures and tabulated specs, 7 popular 5-inch players on the market today. Their rationale for doing so is that 5-inch players will soon overtake 4.3-inch players as the industry leading standard in terms of quality and desirability, particularly when we keep in mind that newer and better chips are able to better decode 1080p videos at 800x480 resolution. The devices compared are the RAmos T13FHD; the Onda VX575; the Gemei S6000; the Ainol V8000HDS; the Newman A16HD; the Bmorn BM-889; and the ICOO E900P. All of these players are capable of decoding 1080p video with the exception of the Newman A16HD and the Bmorn BM-889 which can do only 720p. If you're in the market for a 5-inch player, this might be the roundup to help
The good folks over at iMP3 have landed their hands on the new BM-889 from Bmorn. The BM-889 does have a 5.0" (resistive) touch screen and is supposed to be running off the RK2806 processor, much like the RAmos touch screen players.
The BM-889 does seem to have a nice user interface, from what i know of similar RK2806 players, this interface is most likely flash based. It does seem to have a sort of cover flow that we saw on the RAmos T11RK. It is refreshing to see more players using a more attractive and interactive UI.
As the player does use the RK2806 chip, it will be able to play a wide variety of video formats, inluding MKV, AVI, RMVB and flv to name a few, it will be able to decode videos that are upto 1280x720 resolution. It will support your standard audio formats as well a
The BM-889's touchscreen UI has been previewed and is looking pretty functional, whilst remaining multifunctional.

Here's the UI and we can see everything's laid out nicely and within touch from the main screen which also handily displays a clock, date, track information (if music's playing), battery life, date and day (hopefully the next software update will change 'Satday').
The screen uses Blue Morning's "magnetic induction" touchscreen technology which is currently as ambiguous as the other hidden specs. Everything tbc.
