The video above is of a mystery Archos 7 Home Tablet that appears to have RK2818, Rockchip's new flagship chip that will run Android 2.1. It certainly appears that Android 2.1 is running and, in addition, we see streaming of a video off of QQLive service of a film. Impressed yet? Also, confused. The previous line of Archos 7 HT had RK2808, so this is a logical upgrade, but why has it been lost in the shuffle versus the mass Cortex-A8 lineup that was recently announced, featuring Android 2.2 and a TI OMAP3630 processor? The video above shows you an internet page loading times between the Archos 7 and iPad tablets. The Archos 7, which is supposed to be running on Android 2.1, though the black bar at the top looks suspiciously like 1.6, actually beats out the iPad by quite a significant margin - it seems the iPad had trouble loading a specific element. Either way, nothing to get too excited about - browser speed tests can vary for a multitude of reasons and it's best not to put too much stock into them unless they are repeated tests.

A UK retailer has let slip info and pics on the Archos 7 Android-based Internet tablet and not only is it looking good, it’s also pretty cheap!
It features a 7 inch WVGA touch screen, has 8GB of storage and will be available in March for an impressive £149.99 / $243 with tax.
