Seven 5-Inch Players Compared And Summarised

June 9, 2010 by HS in Ainol, Bmorn, Gemei, Newsmy, Onda, Ramos with No Comments.

The folks over at zol have compared and summarised, complete with pictures and tabulated specs, 7 popular 5-inch players on the market today. Their rationale for doing so is that 5-inch players will soon overtake 4.3-inch players as the industry leading standard in terms of quality and desirability, particularly when we keep in mind that newer and better chips are able to better decode 1080p videos at 800x480 resolution. The devices compared are the RAmos T13FHD; the Onda VX575; the Gemei S6000; the Ainol V8000HDS; the Newman A16HD; the Bmorn BM-889; and the ICOO E900P. All of these players are capable of decoding 1080p video with the exception of the Newman A16HD and the Bmorn BM-889 which can do only 720p. If you're in the market for a 5-inch player, this might be the roundup to help

Newsmy Releasing A16HD – HDMI player

March 4, 2010 by Raz in Newsmy, PMP with No Comments.

Newsmy looks to join the HDMI club with their A16HD, a reworking of a preexisting model. HDMI has now become almost like a bare standard that all new Chinese players seem to need. I don't think its a bad thing, but i wouldn't exactly not buy a player if HDMI wasn't on it. The available informtion provided on this model doesn't go into specifics on what media processor it is using, but it will be able to support HD movies, in various formats, including RMVB, AVI, FLV, DAT, VOB. It seems that it won't support MKV and play videos upto a resolution of 768p, because of this, i am actually going to assume that this is using a Sunplus media processor. The A16HD will also come with a 5.0" screen, not touch screen based, support a screen resolution of 800x480 and will come in 8GB and 16GB a

Hello Newman A16HD & Friend

August 27, 2009 by Tom in Newsmy, Player Babed Out, PMP with No Comments.

The latest from Chinese camp Newman/Newsmy is the A16HD, a 16GB HD PMP that offers TV-Out at 1080I/768 decoding and has a slick-looking PSP style interface (pic after the break). For viewing on the go there's the 5 inch, 16 million colour LTPS (low temperature polysilicon display) 800 x 480, 16:9 widescreen display which supports RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, MP4, VOB, MOV, 3GP, MPG and DAT formats. Audio support comes in the no surprises guise of MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV and APE & FLAC lossless formats, all playable through the onboard speaker. If that's not enough there's also built-in power management, a text reader and a few games to boot. All in all, a pretty impressive looking piece of kit and a slightly cheaper 8GB version is also available. [Via Zol]
