ZuneHD Review Points To Positive

August 6, 2009 by Tom in PMP with 1 Comment.

A CNET reviewer was given a pair of ZuneHDs to fiddle with for an hour and has left the experience with a smile. Donald Bell suggests the iPod Touch still has the edge but ZunrHD the ZuneHD does offer “one of the richest music experiences on a portable device.” The focus of the ZuneHD is multimedia content and HD support is guaranteed by the Nvidia Tegra chip, allowing HDMI output for 720p support. This big screen output is good news for those not enamoured with the 480x272 resolution screen. Back to the music, the music files interface apparently impresses with its strong dedication to detail and info including band information, photos and artist recommendations. Browsing is another thing to look out for as it has its own browser (developed by the IE team) which “smokes.

JXD 980 Video Review – Good Video player – Crappy everything else

December 30, 2008 by Raz in JXD, Video Review with 1 Comment.

Ok so by the end of the video you will probably be wondering why we are selling this player, because of its very low price and very good video performance, well better than performance than the RK27xx chipset and the older ingenic chipset. Those watching may be disappointed with the other features, but i want to stress, this player is ONLY good for video, although the audio quality from the Sunplus 8000 chip is surprisingly good, the music player, being so poorly developed, make its pointless to be used as an audio player. Anyways, good budget, hi res video support player - everything else, this player is absolutely horrible for (hope i made my point clear). Who know JXD may release a firmware that greatly improves the UI, we can always dream. Discuss on our forums

Ainol V6000HDB – Enter Rodimus Prime

December 30, 2008 by Raz in Ainol, PMP with No Comments.

It seems Ainol's Optimus Prime (V6000HDA) is making way for its second generation leader, Rodimus Prime (the V6000HDB)....i didn't make that up, jump to the imp3 page and that's how they are comparing the V6000HDA and the V6000HDB. I really don't see how Opimus being killed by Megatron and the subsequent rise of Rodimus Prime has anything to do with MP4 Players, especially in this case, what i can tell you is that the V6000HDB is a budget version of the V6000HDA. The V6000HDB will use the same powerful Ingenic/Chinachip 720p, which can actually play videos in a 720p resolution with little to no problem (i know i am still shocked at seeing a claim by a China chipmaker actually not being totally false). The V6000HDB will be dropping the high res 800x480 screen that is found on the V3000HD

What a suprise – Onda VX535HD

December 22, 2008 by Raz in Onda with No Comments.

Yeah like no one didn't see this coming from a mile away, i am only kicking myself for not have kept the line i wrote in the original X690HD/T9 blog post on how Onda would probably have one our and in the same case as the VX767, drats, could have done 'told you so'. Anyways its going to come with a 800x480 resolution screen with the new ingenics chip, the 720p, so expect very hi res video playback, but just not at 720p, the chip will also be able to decode at 10mb/sec. I am still waiting for my V3000HD sample, once i get that i will compare grow these 720p processors really stack. No word on pricing or availability, but expect more details soon. Gemei and RAmos hit back with ‘HD’ 800×480 screen res players

December 16, 2008 by Raz in Gemei, PMP, Ramos with No Comments.

It didn't take long after the release of the Ainol V3000HD for both Gemei and RAmos to announce their new HD players. The two will be releasing what look to be very similar (both internal hardware and external looks) players. The RAmos T9 (pictured above) and the Gemei X690HD (pictured below) will have screens capable of a display resolution of 800 x 480, much like the V3000HD. Its fair to assume that Gemei will be using the Ingenic Chinachips 720p chip, just like the V3000HD. What isn't clear is what chip the T9 will be using, i assume it will also be using the same chip as the V3000HD and the X690HD, but RAmos does have a preference for using Rockchip and  their player state to have a new 24bit dual core chip that hasn't been previously used, so maybe the T9 maybe using the new RK28xx
