Forget rain dancing, we've now got laser dancing... er I mean a rain laser. That's correct. A laser that creates rainfall, or close to it. Man made rain has been achieved before with cloud seeding, but not to such futuristic lengths as shooting a powerful laser into the sky, a technique known as 'laser-assisted water condensation'. The aim is of the laser is to try to control where and when it rains in a location that has a suitable amount of humidity. Read how it works after the break.
The idea is cool, but the process seems to be a little on the under-developed side - research showed that after 133 hours of laser firing, the lasers were able to then create nitric acid particles in the air that binds water particles to create droplets, while also preventing them from re-evaporati
According to a course paper submitted by grad students Justin Manweiler and Romit Roy Choudhury of Duke University, changing the way you manage your WiFi when in a WIFi hot zone could result in cutting power consumption by half on your WiFi device. The way to really save on battery life is to turn off the WiFi radio as a whole, but that's not really useful if you need WiFi connectivity, now is it. Click after the break to read move about how to double your battery life with WiFi on!
When you're using a WiFi device in a WiFi hot zone, the WiFi radio you have in your device is working overtime in order to stay awake indefinitely, waiting for the chance to send data out to an access point over the same wireless spectrum as other WiFi devices. This, in turn, consumes much more energy
KINGMAX surely are the king to the max! They've managed to cram 64GB into a single MicroSD card - an apparent first. The mega-memory-sized SD card is a class 6 MicroSD card meaning it can handle HD video recording and other actions that require fairly speedy storage. Given that Google are letting developers upload Android apps of up to 4GB, this 64GB card will certainly beat the 2 X 4GB app allowing 8GB card you may have! The card itself is no different to all other MicroSD cards - its dimensions are 15, x 11, x 1mm. Unfortunately there's no word on cost at the moment, but we're sure the price will be set at a King's level.

Barnes and Noble have recently introduced their latest 6-inch E-ink touchscreen eReader - the NOOK eReader. It has the same screen size as the Kindle but apparently smaller overall. The new device also sports fewer buttons as the Kindle and is said to have a battery life of up to two months, thanks to the E-Ink. The NOOK Colour on the other hand would last around a day or two. The company also boasts no lagging during page turning and Google Android 2.1 with no third party apps for it. This opens up rooting possibilities for hackers to run other apps. Diameter wise, the device is: 165 x 127mm with nothig on thickness yet, but we do know that it weighs 213g, will be ready for launch come June 10th and will cost an affordable USD$139.

Some people deem themselves audiophiles whilst other couldn't care less. Some people have sensitive ears that will pick up on the faintest crackle whilst others unintentionally share their music through their earphones from such a high volume setting. Either way, there's not denying that there is a difference in audio quality, whether or not that's of any importance to you or if you're happy from just listening to your favourite music track regardless. Some people actually argue that there isn't any noticeable difference at all, and therefor there is no difference - well there is, and we have the proof. We have data loss images as well as an easy-to-understand explanation of what the difference is between lossy - MP3 type files that looses audio data and quality when ripped from a CD - a
The 24th of May is noted as a special day for Barnes and Nobles as that is when they will be announcing their new eReader. The announcement will take place in the big apple - New York City - and the new eReader will apparently fit perfectly with the recent SEC filing that mentions a new Nook device. There's no leaked or pre- info on the new device yet but there are speculations that the new device could be an improved Nook Colour that may run Android 3.0 Honeycomb as well as house more powerful hardware. If this is indeed the case, the new Barnes and Nobles eReader will be the first of its kind to run Honeycomb. Let's hope for the best come next Tuesday!

If you've been regularly frequenting tablet related blogs recently you will have read about the poor sale figures of high-end Android tablet such as the Motorola Xoom. NVIDIA - a company that manufactures the dual-core Tegra 2 processors that most of these high-end Android tablets use - has had its CEO, Jen-Hsun Juang state his theory that the low sales figures are down to each tablet's high price tags. With the iPad being the dominant device in the mobile computing market, coming out with cheaper Android models is the way to go according to the newly tattooed Juang (check out his new ink in the picture above - don't forget to notice his flex either). To help you get a better picture of the sale 'failures', the Motorola Xoom - an Android Honeycomb, Tegra 2 processor tablet - according to
