Let it be known for all that gives a toss - the Apple iPhone 5 will be officially announced come the 4th of October. And what better place for Apple to brag and boast its own product then in their own Californian based Head Quarters in Cupertino. I walked passed the new Apple mega-store that recently opened here in Hong Kong the other day, and saw an army of Apple employees crowding around the tight queue of over-eager shoppers, clapping and cheering as each prospect client walks through the threshold and into the white abyss. From that, I can imagine a similar scene of unified vested employees, gleefully cheering and clapping the new iPhone model into the world. But less of my biased ramblings and more on the Apple news after the break.
The new choice of venue for the announcemen
However it certainly looks like the former. The MX is Meizu's new smartphone that is so impressive it can be considered high-end, which actually takes away from the appeal of it being an 'inexpensive' china-made device. Thanks to MP4 Nation forum member, chengdude, we've got the scoop on the MX smartphone - it looks like it'll come in two models: a 16GB dual-core version that's to come on the 1st of October (the National Day holiday), and a 32GB quad-core (yup! quad-core!!) version to come later. Find out more after the break.
As for what's powering these things - the dual-core version is speculated to be using Samsung's Exynos processor (Samsung Galaxy S II), however the quad-core processor remains a mystery. Kal-el perhaps!? Both versions come with a 4-inch screen with a resolut
Are you an Ainol NOVO8 or perhaps another 8-inch tablet owner that has been longing for a suitable case to wrap your beloved tech-toy in? Well, wipe those salty tears away and scream for joy - Mofi have come out with a soft case that will fit an 8-inch tablet perfectly, zipping it up in a comfortable and cozy looking material that looks like it could even double-up as a pillow. The cases come in three colours: green, brown and cream white, and can be zipped all the way around with its dual zippers to ensure that little bit of protection. A bonus is the Android theme that comes with the cases, so sport them loud and proud! Check out more images after the break.

Most of us that has not been sleeping for the past couple of years will know about Rovio's Angry Brids - a game that has taken the side of a bunch of vengeful feathered aviators, hell-bent on getting back their eggs that were stolen by a bunch of pigs. Well as happy as we are slinging ball shaped birds to murder ball shaped pigs, have we ever considered the pig's side of things? I mean, don't we take eggs from birds ourselves after all? I'll be the first to admit to enjoying a big breakfast complete with sunny-side-ups. Well if you sympathise over these poor porklings then show them some heart with this Angry Birds themed pig speaker dock. Check out more after the break.
The dock works like many others - it charges, syncs and plays your iPod/iPhone by docking it into the speaker t

The A10 processing chip by Allwinner Tech has been making several appearances in the China tablet market and has been causing quite a stir with boastful performance specs. With big names like Ainol, Onda and Teclast adopting the chip for their latest tablet releases, the chip has done well for itself, especially since it claims it can handle 2160p video playback, and out-benchmark Cortex-A8 and -A9 processors. We've recently blogged about Ainol's new NOVO7 tablet - an A10 user - and now we've got the P76 tablet from Teclast, and an upcoming Onda tablet that will also sport the A10 chip. Read more about this after the break.
All three tablets have the same epic spec list that includes, as mentioned, 2160p HD video playback, video decoding of up to a resolution of 3840 x 2160, 2D
We have taken yet another step towards our Hollywood future. I'm not talking about naked 'Precognatives' lying in a bathtub, nor hover boards tearing up sidewalks. I'm talking about the power of the pen - a digital pen for that matter. The Inkling pen by Wacom is bridging the gap between hand stroked sketches and digitalised design work. In short, what this pen does is capture whatever you've drawn on paper (with the Inkling), and allows you to upload it onto your computer to then be altered as you wish using whatever design programme you see fit. Click after the break to read more and watch the video showing you how it all goes down.
The Inkling comes with a receiver that you place on the top of your sheet/paper pad, and connects to each other via ultrasonic and infrared. The rec
Samsung has recently officially confirmed that their Galaxy Tab 8.9 slate and Galaxy S II smartphone will be receiving 4G LTE. This just ads another pro mark to the already positively reviewed devices. But that's not all - Samsung will also be bumping up the clockspeed of their processors from 1.2GHz to 1.5Ghz. The Galaxy S II gets yet another piece of good news (depending on preference) with its screen size being enlarged to a 4.5-inches AMOLED display. Read more on these updates and check out the hands-on video of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 after the break.
The official confirmations were announce last Saturday - 17th of August - and the devices themselves will be unveiled at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin. Check out the hands-on video of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 after the break to see what
According to a recent report on smartphones and who holds what within their market share (in the U.S) by market research firm, NPD Group, Inc, it's all good news for two of the better known names in the industry - Google and Apple. Things aren't looking so good for the rest however. Statistics from the report shows that Google has increased in market shares by 57.6 percent from their 33 percent of shares in Q2 2010, to 52 percent in Q2 2011. This puts Google at the top of the list, with Apple falling in at second place with their increase from last year's 22 percent to 29 percent - a 31.8 percent increase in the market share. Click after the break to read about how the other companies did.
