Someone over at Ainol seems to have leaked a beta version of Android 4.0 ICS for their Ainol Novo 7 Advanced. More info and download firmware on the forums.

Ainol are officially the first company to release a tablet running Android 4.0 AKA Ice Cream Sandwich and its not even a ARM based tablet, it will be running on a MIPS based processor by Ingenic semiconductors. The Ainol Novo 7 Basic tablet isn't exactly new, it has been around for a month, last week it made news as ingenic were working with MIPS to get the official go ahead to port Android 3.0, but now it looks like they are going straight to Android 4.0. The tablet has a 1ghz MIPS based processors, 7" 800x480 resolution screen, capacitive touch panel and 8GB of internal memory. The price tag is slated to be around $150 for the 8GB version. Ainol also seem to be rebadging the Novo7 into the Ainovo. Via Engadget

Just a quick post showing you the NOVO8's gaming capabilities of the tablet running the graphic intensive game, Dungeon Hunter - a game made to run on a Tegra 2 chip. The video shows a snippet of the NOVO8 in action, showing that it is able to play such a game pretty smoothly. Just another out of the many reasons for wanting to own such an awesome tablet! Ainol's NOVO7 Android tablet has come out guns ablaze with boast-worthy specs that has us staggering back with shock and confusion. 2160p video playback!? That means decoding videos with an epic resolution of 3840 x 2160! The internal storage likely wouldn't be enough to even hold a video of this resolution of any reasonable length - so unless you're into super HD music videos, we question the real "braggability" of such a capability. The A10 processing chip by Allwinner Tech has been making several appearances in the China tablet market and has been causing quite a stir with boastful performance specs. With big names like Ainol, Onda and Teclast adopting the chip for their latest tablet releases, the chip has done well for itself, especially since it claims it can handle 2160p video playback, and out-benchmark Cortex-A8 and -A9 processors. We've recently blogged about Ainol's new NOVO7 tablet - an A10 user - and now we've got the P76 tablet from Teclast, and an upcoming Onda tablet that will also sport the A10 chip. Ainol has just released information on their new NOVO Android tablet, the NOVO7, and boy does is blow the rest out of the water! Well... according to Ainol... and like any company trying to sell a product within a competitive market, we are going to get wine from water. To start us off with the NOVO7's apparent epic-ness - the 7-incher is capable of 2160p HD video playback, and is capable of decoding videos with a resolution of 3840 x 2160. It is good to see that Ainol are supporting not only their products, but also their customers. They have recently come up with a contest for their NOVO line which involves a lot of colours, a bit of creativity and the word 'NOVO'. What you'll have to do is create the word NOVO (or at least something that resembles the word) using as many colours or/and creativity as you can. Send the photo in to Ainol to have a chance at winning a NOVO tablet as the 1st place prize, or a set of Angry Bird toys for 2nd and 3rd. The instructions however aren't very clear, so you might want to visit their official website to suss it out first. It's a pretty neat thing what Ainol is doing, and hopefully other tablet makers can learn from their example. Check out some samples of creativity after the break.

We decided to do a little test to see whether or not Ainol's NOVO8 does indeed have a battery life of 4 to 5 hours with WiFi constantly on. For good measure, we turned the brightness up to a realistically bright setting of around 70%, and turned the screen timeout to 'never timeout'. Our results can be found after the break (Or in the title) We turned the fully charged NOVO8 on at 10:00am and then periodically checked the battery life every 2 hours after that. After two hours - 12:00pm - the battery level showed to be at 51% which was a surprising cut-in-half for just two hours. In terms of what the battery use was: the device standby was at 73%, the display was at 18% and the WiFi was at 11%. We checked again on the fourth hour of turning on the tablet - 02:00pm - which showed th

We opened up an Ainol Novo 8 to discover that the newer revision they are selling comes with 2 x 1900mAh batteries. This means an increase of battery life from roughly 1.5~3 hours to 4~5 hours (according to Ainol), which is a nice boost for what is ultimately a nice tablet. This won't be a full blown disassembly series of photographs, but after the break you can see more of the frame removed and dual batteries.
