Catching Up: Tabco Is Fusion Garage, And Their Tablet: The Grid 10

Better late than never with this piece of new: the unveiling of who Tabco are and what they have was revealed on Monday the 15th. We started off with a slew of viral videos and updates over the internet about the new name and product, but all is now revealed. Tabco is in fact not Nokia who was at the top of the guessing list, nor Microsoft or HP – they are Fusion Garage, a Singaporean company that brought us the JooJoo tablet. As for what the tablet is that they’ve been promoting all this time – find out after the break if you don’t already know.

The device Tabco have been suggesting to be the tablet above all others is a 10.1-inch, NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered tablet by the name, Grid 10. As for its OS – no, it doesn’t use MeeGo – is actually uses their own OS called Grid OS, which is built ontop of an Android kernel, so even though the UI is unique to Grid OS, you will still have access to Android apps. The tablet looks pretty stylish, although it does sport a rather thick bezel which is quite unnecessary and is a current trend that we could do without. Apart from that, as well as the curved back (a thin and straight tablet would of looked better), the tablet looks pretty slick.

The Grid 10 also comes with a little friend – the Grid 4 – which is a 4-inch smartphone that’s powered by Qualcomm’s dual-core Snapdragon processor and also runs Grid OS on top of Android. The Grid 4 does sport a thin and straight design with no buttons and IMO, looks pretty frickin’ awesome for a smartphone. Although according to the company, its the user experience that’s suppose to blow you away as it has predicted updates, an easy and fun grid interface and an overall experience that has supposedly ‘reinvented touch computing from the ground up”.

At the moment, Fusion Garage are only shipping the Grid 10 within the US for a hefty USD$499, with international sales to come. There’s no mention of when the Grid 4 will be selling and for how much though. Check out the official website to read more about these devices.
