Dell Plans To Slide Out With A New 7-Inch Tablet – With Slide-Out Keyboard
Dell already have a 5- and 7-inch Android tablet released and under their belt, and they’ve also announced that they will coming out with a 10-inch Windows and Andriod one. Now it seems that they are working on a newer 7-inch tab, however this one comes with a slide-out keyboard – although it’s most probably still a Prototype. Slide-out keyboards on tablets is no new thing – we’ve got the Asus Eee Pad Slider and Samsung’s Sliding PC 7 series – but what’s different about Dell’s one is that, unlike the others that fold into a makeshift laptop, the Dell tablet’s keyboard slides straight out and flat. So you’ll either have to hold on to the tab or rest it with the screen flat on the surface. The immediate thought of having to stretch your thumbs across a 7-inch tablet isn’t a nice one, so click after the break to find out why that wont be the case with this tab.
Fortunately, the keyboard keys on the 7-inch dell tablet is split in two, and placed on either ends which makes for thumb tapping a lot easier and reachable – much like the new on-screen split keyboard iOS 5 is bringing to the iPad. The above image of the 7-inch Dell tablet is courtesy of Engadget, however unfortunately there is no information on its hardware or software, so whether this is a Windows or Android tab is still to be discovered. Same goes for its processor and everything else really. In fact, this tablet might not even hit the market. Only time will tell…
