Video: Microsoft Demonstrates New E-Ink Tablets That Can Work Together As One

Microsoft Research demonstrated a new E-ink tablet during the 2011 CHI conference that has a pretty cool special feature – each tablet is able to work with one another, acting as a a multi-screen set up. Users will be able to drag content from one tablet to another, as well as be able to view content on two tablets at the same time – the two screens will be coupled to make one display screen. You can also browse through books using more than one tablet, having a page display on each screen. The reason behind this is to cut down the cutting down of trees and eventually replace textbooks. With the use of low-powered screens,  stylus input and multiple tablet interaction, this will definitely be a step towards being more eco-friendly, but the idea of having to buy multiple tablets let alone carrying around multiple tablets is not so friendly. You can check out a video of these tablet in joined action after the break.
