HKTDC – RK2818 Android 2.2 Lan-line Smart Phone – IT-795

The IT-795 by Skyworth is a lan-line smart phone that we saw during the HKTDC fair. It boasts Android 2.1 OS with a 2.3 (Ginrgerbread) upgrade, although the unit we saw ran 2.1. It’s also powered by Rockchip’s RK2818 processor, and has a 7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480. These aren’t exactly the latest things off the market, but they’re not that common either so it’s interesting to be able to go hands on with one. The phone also supports WiFi, 3G, VIoP and PSTN connectivity, has a MicroSD expansion slot and comes with a 2-megapixel front camera for your video calls. This was my first experience with an ‘Android Internet Phone’ so it was fun seeing a Youtube app and such on a lan-line phone. Its rechargeable battery also got me wondering how silly it would be if you were to bring the phone around with you as a tablet substitute. Do I see a new trend coming? Probably not… More imaged after the break.
