W801 iPhone 4 Clone Running Android 2.2
Another sleek looking iPhone 4 clone is hitting the “Shanzhai” market, with model number / name W801. It runs on the Google Android 2.2 operating system, or FroYo, and it is powered by the Qualcomm MSM7200A processor clocked at up to 528MHz. It’s a pretty decent processor, and will handle smartphone functionality smoothly and has OpenGL ES 1.0 support, but it won’t dazzle you like the 3D of a Tegra 2 might. A 3.5-inch HVGA (320 x 480) capacitive touchpanel display, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a GPS module, WiFi and a g-sensor. All in all, it’s a pretty solid clone phone but lacks 3G functionality or the high-performance metric of current non-clone solutions. The “Shanzhai” market has always contained less powerful handsets to better minimise costs, and it’s good to see another solution when compared to the myriad MediaTek-powered phones that you’ll find.
