Tegra 2 Tablet From Shenzhen Renben Tech: QPad M1006 – Winning
The QPad M1006 from Shenzhen Renben Tech houses the powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (and looks similar the Malata ZPad). Tegra 2: that dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 beast (clocked at 1GHz) and it’s one of the most powerful mobile processors on the market to date. What’s not to be excited about? One of the highlights: 1) switching from a bog-standard 2.2 UI to a pretty amazing 3D custom UI, that runs very smoothly, without so much as a hiccup; 2) great 1080p video playback, smooth and no visible signs of frame rate loss; 3) 3D games running lag-free. How do we know all of this? There are two videos (and full specs) after the break from Micdigi who walks us through the tablet demonstrating it’s functionality.
The videos are hosted on Tudou, so they may not work for all.
In this first video, we see the Micdigi take us through general operation of the tablet, including checking out the awesome looking 3D UI (that plays very smoothly), 1080p HD video that plays flawlessly, and a 3D game that doesn’t lag. Even though Tegra 2 has been out for a while, and we’ve seen videos on its performance, it’s still hard not to be amazed by the processing power it offers.
In this second video we can see the image viewer, a nice animated backdrop, audio player, and web browsing with Flash 10.1 functionality (video watching through browser). It’s all very smooth.
Specs include Android 2.2, 512MB DDR2 RAM a 10-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen display, with Bluetooth and accelerometer built in. Quite simply put, it looks like a fantastic tablet, spec-wise, and will be one if build quality holds up. The only downside is that the tablet only has 512MB of on-board flash storage, which isn’t much, but it does have microSD expansion. The QPad M1006 also has a built-in 3300mAh battery, supposedly providing 6 hours of battery life, but one learns to be wary of battery life claims. Also on the spec sheet are a front-facing camera, HDMI-out, a full sized USB port, as well as a built-in mic to go with the standard home/back/return buttons and volume buttons. It looks to be a real winner.
