Philips’ SA080 PMP Strives For A Darker Future
The Philips SA080 is a portable media player that boasts high definition video playback, but uses a 24-bit TFT LCD display which is supposed to reduce the brightness for those with sensitive eyes. Unfortunately not much specs have been revealed on the player, but we do know that the 4.3-inch screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 – higher than the standard in PMP’s. Compared to the Philips GoGear Muse 3, you’re looking at much better video playback – 720p video playback in fact – and in HD. And if the players ‘annoying brightness reducing display’ does its job, then watching Enrique thrusting on the dance floor may finally be bearable. The SA080 also comes with Philips’ FullSound – a technology of theirs that restores the sonic details that music compression loses on the player’s audio files. It should be able to support all of your standard media files, as well as RM, RMVB, AVI, H.264, MPEG4. It also comes with 8GB of internal memory and comes with up to 64GB of external memory via MicroSD card. All your common features – e-book reader, image browser, calculator, etc. will be thrown in there, and the player comes with a nice snow-white shell. Philips will also be introducing different coloured models later on. There’s also a built-in kickstand for those bedside table movie nights. More images after the break.
