ONN OPad-N5 Incoming: 8-Inches, FroYo & A 1GHz Processor
The last we heard from ONN, they were releasing the OPad-N2, a RK2818-powered 7-inch Android 2.1 tablet that resembled our own RockTab. It seems they seek to retire that with the OPad-N5, sporting a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM as well as Android 2.2 this time around. With recent news of Teclast’s soon-to-be-released Android 2.2 firmware upgrade to their own RK2818 tablet, the send out may be a little less dramatic, but the OPad-N5 is shaping up to be a solid tablet. With specs that remind us of the myriad Samsung S5PV210-powered tablets (1GHz; 512MB RAM; Android 2.2), the OPad-N5 will perform well. It is said that the 8-inch panel has a resolution of 1024 x 600, which is interesting as that means it is not a 4:3 aspect ratio tablet but instead widescreen – something we haven’t seen in 8-inch size yet. However, the promotional image does suggest that this is a 4:3 aspect ratio tablet, which means the quoted resolution is incorrect and it would likely be 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600. The OPad-N5 has WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, as well as Flash 10.1 support. It has a G-sensor and comes in 8GB or 16GB flavour (internal flash storage). It looks like there might be a slot for micro SD expansion, as well as HDMI-out, but we’re not sure on that. All in all, solid looking, and one of the 10 tablets that ONN supposedly plan to release this year.
