Onda’s Slim GPS Device – The VP73

A new addition to Onda’s ‘VP’ family, the VP73 is a slim and slender GPS unit that measures 10.8mm depth wise. This classically basic and neat designed device sports a 5-inch screen with a ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of 800 x 480. Basic and neat can also be said about its newly designed UI on its Win CE OS – a somewhat colourful version of the traditional Onda GPS UI. The whole point of a GPS system is to make driving that much easier be it finding your way around town or parking your car. Fortunately, the VP73 does just that by having an AV-IN feature that pretty much helps you with backing up your car through a reversing visual radar system. Other performance features that will make driving that much easier is the VP73′s ‘Powerful-X’, ‘Experience-Plus’ and ‘Ultra Search’ functions. They enhance the processor on the device, make for a better user experience and speeds up the search function – all in all making the VP73 perform much better than a standard GPS unit. The VP73′s positioning accuracy is that of 10 metres, and the device’s automatic positioning time is on average 3 seconds (although a whole two seconds more than the VP90). The GPS device also supports other non-navigational features such as video and audio playback, an e-book reader, picture browsing and games. And if traveling through harsh conditions is a facter for you, the PV73 also comes with T-Protect Anti-shock and automatic thermostat technology for those bumpy and cold drives. With multi-map navigation, you’re also able to select which route you would prefer to take, which is always a nice thing. Slimmed down but certainly not brought down, the Onda VP73 seems to be a cutting edge device for Onda. With a nice black plastic and metal shell with built-in back speaker and nothing but the power button, this device will look good in any car. More images after the break.

Please advice and help: I connected the VP73 with a rear camera but when I backward the car I found no visual on the VP73 screen. Do I need to set-up anything? please help.

You may need specific drivers for your camera on the VP73. I’m not sure but I think the VP73 uses WinCE like the VP90 does. You’ll have better luck finding a GPS device community that deals with WinCE devices, to be honest. Sorry I can’t help you out more.
