Galaxy Tab 8.9′s Specs Are Up
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 has previously been shrouded by an air of marketing mystery with teaser posters and what not. Well now its specs are up. The specs read that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb as its OS with Samsung’s customised software layer (widgets, app switcher and more) called TouchWhiz, it’s powered by a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, it has an 8.9-inch (obviously) screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 (higher than the Motorola Xoom), it weighs 470 grams and is 8.6mm thick (thinner than the iPad 2). it will also come with a 2-megapixel front facing camera, a 3-megapixel rear facing camera with an LED flash and will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. It’s able to support MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DiVX and Xvid video as well as 1080p video playback and 720p HD video recording. Connectivity wise, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will come as either a WiFi only model or 3G. With the release of its specs comes its price and estimated launch – it is to be out this summer and has a starting price of USD$469 for the WiFi only, 16GB model. The 32GB model will sell for USD$569. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 also has its price tagged and launch date set – June 8th and USD$499 for the 16GB model. USD$599 for the 32GB one.
